That's well stated. But then you're branded as intolerant and a homophobe by pointing out a real and dangerous illness. In a way I can understand the urge to call people who suggest that homosexuality is a disorder. Looking back at how the Soviet Union put Christians in mental wards it is easy to see how suggesting that homosexuals are suffering from a mental disorder is just a step away from institutionalizing them involuntarily.
The majority of homosexuals function perfectly well in society and do not need to be committed however to suggest that they are not suffering from a disorder is just willful blindness (or political opportunism).

Why do you say that? Women are actually more likely to attempt suicide than men. Granted, men are more likely than women to successfully commit suicide.
So a disproportionate amount of gay men commit suicide. If stats are consistent across the population (big if) then it would make sense for lesbians to have a similarly disproportionate amount of suicide attempts.
Either way, what is your ooint in saying that lesbian suicide rates are lower?
