That's well stated. But then you're branded as intolerant and a homophobe by pointing out a real and dangerous illness. It's like noticing someone has been shot, but the tolerant thing to do is let him bleed to death rather than call a hospital. It's not "hate" that makes us say there's something wrong with it. I have a gay uncle who just went through a break-up and they say he's very depressed now. I'm thinking it's not just because of the break-up.

In a way I can understand the urge to call people who suggest that homosexuality is a disorder. Looking back at how the Soviet Union put Christians in mental wards it is easy to see how suggesting that homosexuals are suffering from a mental disorder is just a step away from institutionalizing them involuntarily.

The majority of homosexuals function perfectly well in society and do not need to be committed however to suggest that they are not suffering from a disorder is just willful blindness (or political opportunism).
