Oral arguments began last week on another controversial Obama Administration policy. It's not Obamacare in the Supreme Court, but the outcome will affect a major sector of the economy: energy. In particular, the fuel most Americans use daily.
At issue is the administration's continued abuse of science at the agency level in an effort to dictate what type of energy we use.
The Environmental Protection Agency has fast-tracked the approval of a 50 percent increase in the amount of ethanol that can be mixed into the fuels we use in our cars and other engine-run vehicles, such as boats and snowmobiles. There's nothing necessarily wrong with such a major increase in ethanol, (from 10% to 15% total,) but the law requires and common sense dictates that the EPA test the new fuel mix in all engines in which it would be used, to make sure it works properly and doesn't damage the engines. The lawsuit alleges that EPA failed to properly do so in approving use of so called E15 fuel.
For example the EPA only evaluated E15's impact on automobiles' emissions systems, rather than how it affects the entire car, "bumper to bumper," as Charles Drevna, President of the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association, a lead plaintiff, put it in a recent interview with the trade publication Energy and Environment News.
Perhaps even more troubling, according to Drevna, is that the EPA's "testing didn't come in until the day before they announced, or they published the regulation." There's simply no way the testing could have been fully considered (as required by law) in the next day's rule-making, not even if the bureaucrats stayed up all night before filing the paperwork.

Y'know, like the mileage which is 3 or 4 mpg less than pure gasoline. That increases the punishment for wanting independent travel.

If they’re rushing this through, then maybe it’s a good sign that they’re scared of losing their jobs right around January 20, 2013.
For awhile, a couple of years ago, I could still find real gasoline..My mileage was about 33 mpg in my vehicle. Now, with ethanol in all the gas around here, My mileage is about 28 or 29 mpg.

What makes you say that? If Obamney wins, nothing will change. He is just like Zero and loves Ethanol. They won’t lose their jobs no matter who wins.
It makes me wonder why Con-gress isn’t putting the brakes on EPA and other BS bureaucracies that think they have the right to impose regulations on the country.
There is a gas station 18 miles from us on an Indian reservation that sells ethanol free fuel. Nice casino, too.

Ethanol should be reserved to be consumed internally.
Toying with E15 with current cars not designed for it is a stupid idea.

Looking at that link, it looks as if all these ethanol free gas stations ( in AZ) are on Indian reservations.
Zero’s Administration is like that Lost in Space Robot programmed to destroy all the critical systems in their spaceship. We are headed for a helluva crash landing if we dont get the posers out of DC.
Don’t have any near my home, the ones I’ve seen on vacation (South Carolina) charge considerably more per gallon vs. E10.
FYI — an idea now gaining traction is moving to E30 or higher. Once in that range, the higher octane boost more than compensates for the lower energy density and the ethanol mileage drag disappears, provided your car is properly tuned. I’m told the automakers are beginning to take a serious look at this because it’s another viable pathway to meeting future mileage requirements. Apparently there’s growing concern that battery limitations will keep electrics from doing the job.
