Mojave Desert Cross War Memorial Will Stand
ACLJ ^ | 4/25/2012 | Matthew Clark

Posted on 04/25/2012 4:51:10 PM PDT by blueyon

A cross that was first erected nearly 80 years ago by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in honor of the heroes of World War I will finally be allowed to stand.

More than a decade after the ACLU originally sued to have the cross memorial removed from public land, a case which ended up at the Supreme Court, a federal judge has approved a settlement of the case allowing the cross to remain.

The ACLJ has been fighting to allow this cross to stand for years - an important war memorial in honor of those who have heroically served in our armed forces.

We filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court on behalf of 15 Members of Congress defending the cross. In 2010, the Supreme Court reversed the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision that ordered the removal of the cross and remanded the case to the trial court for further consideration.

No reason that a Cross *and* a Star of David shouldn’t be there.

Absolutely! This will lift the spirits of so many Veterans. Now the crosses at Camp Pendleton also need to be saved.

Great news!!!! Great news for our war veterans and my dad was one (WW2) who fixed the diesel locomotive (rail) engines for General Patton in France

I like seeing crosses and a God fearing America. I am invested in a religious America. I am Jewish. Screw all those atheistic “Jews” in the ACLU ...just saying...A good day for America and an auspicious sign Obama and Moochie will be evicted in 7 short months

A cheer just came about in our household. Our family made a video about the Mojave Memorial Cross. We will certainly return for the replacement of the cross

Two questions I’ve always had about the first and second amendments. If the “separation of church and state” (which is not in the first amendment) meant that anything government related can have no religious connotation, then why did the very first congress open with a prayer, and why are the 10 commandments posted in the supreme court building?

Secondly, if the second amendment meant only to pertain to “Militias” (which I’m sure democrats are totally against), then why did the first campaigns to eliminate guns from the general populace not begin immediately after the signing of the constitution, but almost 150 years after?

Goes way beyond that. They gave away Federal land to be used for churches. AND THE EARLY CONRGRESS CIRCA 1830 HAD BIBLES PRINTED & PAID FOR by the USA....from an old official book.

This separation is very clear. ..."NO ESTABLISHED RELIGION".

"the wall was a created analogy" and throws everything up for grabs.

the wall IS NOT WHAT THE CONSTITUTION SAYS NOR CAN IT EVEN BE INTERPRETED IN SUCH A MANNER.
