Romney fundraiser: Donors 'coming out of the woodwork'
By Cameron Joseph - 04/25/12 05:33 PM ET

Mitt Romney's fundraising has skyrocketed since he became the de facto nominee, a top Romney fundraiser told The Hill Wednesday evening.

"People are coming out of the woodwork," said the fundraiser, who requested not to be named. "A number of my friends who didn't want to get involved in the primary are now coming off the sidelines for the general election."

The Romney supporter told The Hill that two recent fundraisers in Florida had netted more than $3 million combined, and said the moment Romney and the Republican National Committee entered into a joint fundraising operation a number of top GOP donors who had been resistant to giving decided to make major donations.

"This all started when we signed the contract with the RNC — that's when the general election really began for us," the fundraiser said. "There's a lot of enthusiasm out there — I can in a week's time raise $1 million for an event."

Romney's schedule is very heavy on fundraising appearances the next month, and if he continues to bring in $1 million or more at most stops he could quickly close the gap with obama in campaign money. Romney finished March with a bit more than $10 million in the bank after having to spend heavily in the primary, while Obama had $104 million cash on hand.

Romney and the RNC have a combined fundraising goal of $800 million, according to a memo obtained by the New York Times. That figure would likely mean Romney outspends Obama — and that doesn't factor in the Republican-aligned outside groups, which are expected to outspend their Democratic counterparts by large margins.

Thanks! I am not suicidal and don’t see any real point in arguing with those who are.

If this were a normal opponent maybe they would have something of a point, but Obama seeks to destroy us in so many way - we have a true enemy in the WH.

Only a fool and/or a Democrat would risk 4 more years of Obama.

I’m not supporting Obama because unlike you I’m not voting for either democrat.

Well stated. Mitt is a hard-core Statist. If people believe things will be better with Mitt they are truly delusional.

Mitt will do nothing to reign in government. At the end of his term, the RATS will walk in with all the new voters, thanks to Mitt's strong embrace of Amnesty.

Conservatives need to know that ALL of Mitts failures will relentlessly be blamed on one thing --- CONSERVATIVES.

The Press, the left and most RINOs will have a field day assigning ALL the ills to the Conservative policies of Mitt. The reality is NONE of Mitt's policies will be Conservative.

So, for all the fools who will vote for Mitt know that Conservatives will be royally screwed by the end of his four years.

I'm actually way more concerned about the future of America than I am about any of this.

That's exactly the point many of us, including CrippleCreek are trying to make.

With Romney, we don't only have to go through his inevitable Progressive Liberalism, as he no longer has to pay attention to conservatives, but we will also have to deal with the aftermath, the destruction, just like in MA, of the National GOP as a home of conservatives, because he is going to destroy the GOP by his dalliances with the Left-wing.

Romney...turning America into Massachusetts. I will vote for Goode or write in Palin. I am more worried about being judged by G-d for caving on my principles than any earthly elections...no Romney. America didn’t want a conservative, so let the chips fall where they may.

What to do if Romney drops out or quits?

Agreed, he's not going to touch the EPA, he's not going to do anything to rein in the marxist indoctrination in our schools. He's not going to cut spending or do anything to help the economy in any appreciable way. He's not going to stop wasting money on green energy scams. He won't do anything to encourage an expansion of our freedoms.

He's nothing but the candidate for people who don't have the courage to switch parties and become democrats and I refuse to accept their blame or their tantrums.

Exactly. If America is lost, there's little chance that I alone can save her but at least I can face my maker knowing I actually tried.

You know a great deal about what Mitt will and won’t do if he becomes President.

I know much less about this than you do.

I think we can all agree that it is your self-regard that is most important here.

I have a different expectation as to how Mitt will govern if elected than you do.

Romney already has empirical evidence on how he will govern. Before you say well that is just “liberal” Mass. remember practicality by Republican Presidents has perpetuated the spending orgy ever since Harding took the reigns.

So does Obama. Obama's evidence is more readily applicable.

Before you say well that is just “liberal” Mass. remember practicality by Republican Presidents has perpetuated the spending orgy ever since Harding took the reigns.

It is certainly liberal Massachusetts. Everybody governs in context. The present context for the next Present is that our country is going broke. Obama appears to want this. I think it is more likely than not that Romney does not want America to go broke. This is an important point.

Both governed to expand government

Both governed to expand open faggotry in government

Both expanded murder for convenience disguised as some pseudo-right of terminating pregnancy

Both promoted regulations to curb AGW

Both appointed Justices that seek to bypass the legislation process and rule by case law

And both will not stop the collectivist mindset that destroys societies

Keep being “practical” the statists are counting on your gullibility.
