Writing for the Hill, The Root contributing editor David Swerdlick says the NAACP is wrong to shut down the congressman over his recent accusations about communism. Instead, he argues, members should listen to West and challenge him where they disagree.
As the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers reported last Friday, in the wake of West’s comments, the Martin County chapter rescinded its invitation to have him address its Freedom Fund Banquet, now rescheduled for September 15th. And the reason, according to chapter president Rev. Jerry Gore, is because “There’s a certain statement he made about communists” and “we do not represent that type of atmosphere.”
That’s good -- but it doesn’t mean he shouldn’t speak -- it’s all the more reason that he should.

Ideology is the most important thing to most “leaders” in the civil rights movement. There is no government right, service, or protection that a person of color does not receive.
The civil rights movement was taken over by the extreme left before the DNC was.... it’s about ideology, not racism. I have alot of respect for what the movement was when it first started. I have a lot of respect for the first Congress that was convened in our nation. Too bad they have both morphed into a self-serving crowd of idiots taking advantage of their fellow man.

West speaking at the NAACP would be like a free black man speaking at an 1850’s southern plantation. That will never be allowed to happen.

The NAACP can’t let Allen West talk because they’re afraid he might mention the banned phrase “personal responsibility”.
I would recommend that he not go. They’re looking to scalp him. (Think Ross Perot and dang, who else was it? Lee Atwater, maybe?) Yeah, they were white but surely West has other ways of reaching the black community.
The irony is probably lost on the Dem/Communists.

David you appear to be woefully short in US history over the last sixty years. When access to Soviet intelligence files was gained we found that Sen. Joseph McCarthy had been correct. Who woulda thunk it, certainly not the left as they already knew.
With the communists having spent well over one hundred years towards destroying this nation there are now communists everywhere in our government, education system and society. Baldwin and the ACLU, Dewy and the public school system, Ruth Badder Ginsberg in the US Supreme Court, The EPA nearly 100% watermelon, Obama and his czars all admitted communists and the list goes on and on.
David your quick disparagement of Congressman West and Senator McCarthy leads one to suspect that you may be a fellow traveler?
The masters will not allow the enslaved to hear the truth hence Congressman West will not be afforded an opportunity to speak the truth.
