Newt to Suspend Campaign on May 1st. (Larry Welsh, TX Grassroots Director, Newt 2012).
Vanity | April 25, 2012 | True Believer Forever

Posted on 04/25/2012 8:44:31 PM PDT by true believer forever

By now you have assuredly read, either from our team here in Texas or in the media, Newt will be suspending his presidential campaign effective May 1st. While we are all certainly disheartened by the news that our preferred candidate will no longer be vying for the Republican Nomination, we can be proud of the all the efforts put forth by this wonderful team we built together in Texas.

I would like to specifically thank some of you who went above and beyond in their efforts both to assist me and Newt. First, to Sondra Zeigler who travelled around various parts of the country, coordinated deployment and phone banking efforts and somehow found time to coordinate volunteer efforts in Lubbock. To Tammy Banks, who helped me so much in reaching out to volunteers throughout our great state and joined me at CTxPAC and staffed our booth. To Mike Pine, whose advice was invaluable and for keeping tabs on the fundraising intricacies. To Katrina Pearson, for all her efforts to assist us in our outreach to Tea Parties and putting together one of Newt's last visits to Texas. To Ed Wheeler and Gary Walters who did such a magnificent job in the phone bank and consitently kept Texaas at or near the top in those efforts. And, last but certainly not least, to Whitney Neal who never said "no" to any task or assignment that I asked of her, for reminding me not to forget whatever I was forgetting that day, for inspiration and generally being awesome.

Meeting and working with so many of you has been a pleasure and won't soon be forgotten. I look forward to seeing and speaking to many of you soon. I leave you with this quote:

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."

-Nelson Mandela

Sincerely,

Larry Welsh Texas Grassroots Director - Newt 2012

Gingrich earned my respect.

Pragmatically, it may not have been the best run campaign, but he never did anything that was dishonorable or disgraceful. When you think back to those first debates, when he defended and lauded all those conservatives on the stage, and when he only finally defended himself after taking 3 weeks of negative advertising in IOWA from Willard...

He is not the same man he was 20 years. And most people are so blinded by their hate and judgmentalness, they can't see that...

The blind have led America into the ditch...

Unfortunately negative ads work and Romney was armed to the teeth.

Gingrich earned the lead before Iowa by being positive and inspirational but then Romney picked his moment to attack when he saw the whites of the eyes with Iowa weeks away.

Then add Ron Paul doing the same. No one could survive that.

he did survive it, and rebounded to SC, and then got to Florida where Willard threw 17 mil dollars worth of negative ads, filthy ads, lying ads about Newt, and had every gop national and florida state figure sabotaging Newt at eveyr stop along the way. And Newt survived that.

Romney didn't reach out to Santorum immediately as he has Newt, because he knows Newt is dangerous. Santorum can be bought, and Romney and his people know who can be bought...

I am very fortunate to know b9 in person and you’re right about her!

She’s is a blessing and brilliant.

God bless and keep you both, Newt Gingrich and all of his steadfast loyal supporters.

I remain praying.

Divine Intervention.

Something’s gotta give.

A lot can and will happen between now and the convention.

Trust in Him.

Iowa was the first volley. Florida was the second. If Gingrich had won Iowa like he was poised to do, there would have been no Santorum to mess things up.

Yes, that's why I call her b10 - because she's a perfect 10!

Newt's up to something, I'll tell you that.

It's not over, it's just going to be something different.

STAY TUNED.

Larry Welsh, thank you for all that you have done.

I want to say much more, but it is very late for me. God bless you for working so hard to change the tide. You are a true patriot and an honorable man.

You will recognize some of the following words, as most of them came from a previous post I had written. For me, these thoughts fit the moment.

—Ronald Reagan’s warnings about losing our freedoms echoes down through a generation of lost momentum and squandered opportunity.

We now have the most ignorant electorate in the history of American elections. I believe we have the most corrupt government and media our country has ever seen.

I believe that Newt was the one leader that could have turned our country away from the abyss, intelligently and quickly.

It is abundantly clear to me that not enough folks shared my beliefs, instead of a leader, they wanted a preacher.... and far too many lacked the courage to forgive and look beyond the personal sins in a mans past and into the promise of a brighter future for our country. That is certainly a free choice and a personal choice.... and as it is with all choices, there will be consequences.

In any case, Americans will get the country it apparently wants and a country it so richly deserves.

So here’s the big question: Now that Newt’s out, and therefore won’t be going to the convention, what happens to the “Anyone-but-Romney” crowd?

We stay home. Or vote down-ticket only. I surely do not see any difference between the two major party candidates in this cycle.

All the religon aside, Santorum is obviously a good man, his profession, that of politician, neccessitates one to mingle with dogs, thus picking up some fleas, but his greatest detraction was that he never appeared presidential and may not have had the grit to handle that office.

When the Texas Primary arrives, I will vote for Newt, even if it futile.

When the general election comes, I will vote for whomever is the GOP nominee, simply because we all have a common enemy that must be vanquished, it is clearly a freedom or tyranny crossroads where we find ourselves.

Those same people that wanted a preacher gave us McCain in 2008 by supporting Huckabee. They’ve now given us Romney for supporting Santorum. Yes, the GOPe wanted both Romney and McCain, but could not have been successful without the two “preachers” running to split votes. I am still amazed that people didn’t learn from 2008 and allowed history to repeat itself. Will we ever learn? Apparently not. The GOPe know their constituents well. I firmly believe both Huckabee and Santorum were (possibly unwittingly) in the race to ensure the GOPe candidate victory.

You wrote some very strong words that bear thought and repeating. To be clear, I am not Larry Welch, I just posted his email to the TX campaign - I guess I didn't give it clear enough accreditation, I just assumed everyone would know who Larry was... :)

Thanks for this post!

STAY STRONG!
