Cartel Hit Man Arrested on Canadian Border (Ohio)
KRGV ^ | April 25, 2012

WESLACO - Border Patrol agents arrested a cartel hit man along the U.S.-Canadian border.

The Border Patrol kept the story quiet until Edgar Campos Barraza, who's also known as "El Cholo," was in Mexican custody. The Mexican government wanted Barraza on kidnapping, conspiracy and murder charges.

Barraza was arrested in January. He admitted to Border Patrol agents in Ohio that he worked for the Sinaloa drug cartel.

We're told Barraza was living in Sandusky, Ohio. The city is between Toledo and Cleveland, two high-intensity drug trafficking areas. It's also connected to I-80 and several other major highways.

According to a 2011 Justice Department report, smugglers pushing Mexican heroin are moving in to the Port of Cleveland. The port gets shipments from around the world.

In fact, heroin is more of a problem in that area than cocaine or marijuana. Barraza was finally handed over to Mexican authorities on April 12.

"Living in Sandusky? What does that have to do with the Canadian border???"

Government-connected, globalist media sponsors trying to cheapen imports from Canada, pushing policies to suck more revenues out of Canadian tourists, trying to equate Canadians to Mexicans, etc. Meanwhile, we Americans are living more like Mexican peasants each year.

It is on Lake Erie, a body of water which the border runs through.

Ummm, thanks.

My point is just that. Sandusky is an hour from a vehicle crossing point. Far from the border, which is in the middle of the lake. And don't throw the ferry at me, they aren't running yet.

The story comes from a TV station in south Texas(think Anchorman). They are lucky to know where Ohio is.

I’m trying to figure out how we have borders agents in Ohio? I would’ve figured whoever patrols the lake would take care of that?

Ummm, no chance. The article says he was arrested in January in Sandusky. I know we had a mild winter but taking a boat across that lake in January is impossible to suicidal.

I started to write about how unlikely such a voyage would be when I stopped and realized that anybody throwing a boat in the water in Lake Erie in January would be apprehended and escorted to the psyche ward of the nearest hospital. It is suicide.

Well, a different source explains that he was stopped by the State Patrol, who called in the Border Patrol.

Sandusky is a port of entry, but not by boat in January, see above.

Sorry eastforker and all other insulted Texans.

I meant to belittle TV reporters in general, not south Texans.

Most TV reporters have a very limited knowledge of geography outside their broadcast area.

mea culpa

Our government is still cooperating with the Sinoloa cartel, I see. They are integral in the plans for pre-election “unrest” in America, IMHO.

Your post #6.

It is on Lake Erie, a body of water which the border runs through.

Nice work by the authorities on arresting this man. Creates a hell hole of corruption and murder and then sneaks off to live the tranquil life, under the protection of the law. Plus decent law abiding folks.

Always something to learn for myself. I hastily went to a map of the area and saw the dividing line between the United States and Canada. Point Pelee Island in Canada, seems to be only about 25 miles from Sandusky, by boat. I would give the informants a pass to an extent. In reading the history of the War of 1812 between Canada and the United States, I hear vague and fleeting references to the Battle of Put In Bay nearby in American waters.

Big naval battle there and I note with a rueful grin that it ended in a decisive American victory. Oliver Hazzard Perry was the American commander and has a Great Lakes Coast Guard vessel named for him.

Whoops! Correction to my previous post. Spelling error.
Oliver Hazard Perry was the illustrious commander of the American naval forces in the Battle taking place 1813.
I further learn of the extensive reenactments that will take place this year going into 2013. This with various ships.
Something to see indeed

Greetings, Peter Libra:

Oliver Hazzard Perry was the American commander and has a Great Lakes Coast Guard vessel named for him.

Partially correct. The USCG never had a vessel named after Perry.

Ohio does have many cities, villages, townships, and a county named in honor of Perry.

Cheers,
OLA

Your correction taken in good part. Thanks.

There still is a little bar in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan now called the "Bomb Shelter". Used to patronize it when it was the old Hickler House. Naval personnel would drop in from time to time. Spitting distance from the waterway. Seemed to think there was a vessel of some type called that..... still the old memory is not what it was.

Regards.
PL.

“Living in Sandusky? What does that have to do with the Canadian border???”

Used to keep the sailboat in Sandusky, across from Cedar Point. Nice area to sail in, with all the islands. Always thought that smuggling might be pretty easy during the boating season.

From the Lakehead to Smuggler's Notch, Vermont is a smugglers dream. The Indian reservations are hotbeds of illegal immigrant and cigaret smuggling.

This is especially true for Walpole Island and the reserves along the St. Lawrence.
