MITT ROMNEY: GAY PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SERVE IN BOY SCOUTS
GLAAD ^ | 4/26/2012 | Aaron McQuade

Posted on 04/26/2012 11:40:58 AM PDT by DesertRenegade

As support for gay mom and former Boy Scout troop leader Jennifer Tyrrell contines to pour in from across America, it's important to reflect on those who have been saying all along that moms like Jen should be allowed in the Boy Scouts. Including Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who said in a 1994 debate:

“I believe that the Boy Scouts of America does a wonderful service for this country. I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

Romney was a member of Boy Scouts of America's National Executive Board at the time. Romney's belief that "all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts," echoes the opinion of over 146,000 People who have joined Jennifer's Change.org action calling on the Boy Scouts of America to end its long history of discrimination against LGBT people. Tyrrell was ousted as scout leader of her 7-year-old son’s Boy Scouts troop simply because she’s gay.

"I say if that lesbo Tyrell wants to head a BOY Scout troop, more power to her..."

Absolutely not! She's an advocate for that perverse behavior and she cannot uphold the Scout Oath and Law due to her abherrant behavior, dress and demeanor.

If any Scout were to bring up the deviancy of homosexuality during a Scout's own, do you think she'd sit there and remain silent?

She's an agitator, she knew the rules about homosexuality in Scouting and yet now she's complaining about them being enforced.

Nope, no way, no how.

Seems like he’s doing anything he can to get votes...which is what we want so we can get rid of Obama...right?

WRITE IN HERMAN CAIN.....................
_____________________________________________________________
I might consider it if Herman tells us what he did with all his campaign money that people sent to him. How much of it was spent paying hush money to the old broads that he hit on? If you’re innocent you stand and fight. You say: “I want to face my accusers on national TV, and they can bring their hag lawyer, Gloria Allred, with them. You fight until hell freezes over. But, no... Herman ran and hid behind his wife and God. Another philandering Black man living up to the sterotype.

“.....but I will vote for the candidate that has the courage to run against Mr. Obama. Our republic is dying. Let’s save it and do the fine-tuning later. “

What did you have in mind that is left to “save and fine tune”, when the elite have force fed you a Marxist/commie LITE as your nominee and you have swallowed him whole, under some elusive delusion of “hope” that you can do squat “later” by caving, election after election, after election, with no resistance whatsoever.

REBEllION IS TOO DAMN HARD AND IT’S SCARY.

Some of us are going to do it anyway.

I see that Obama’s social network dopple-gangers are out in force on FR today.

Who knows? They may even persuade someone that a vote for Obama would be a “good” thing.

Nearly all of my acquaintances who in 2008 announced from the rooftops their support of Zero, in 2012 deny that they ever did. I forecast a repeat of that phenomenon if the Bishop of Latter Day Sodomy is elected.

Actually what he said was that the Boy Scouts have every right to decide for themselves who can and cannot join and he supports them in that...though he personally in 1994 believed gays should be allowed to be a part.

I wonder how he would answer that now, 18 years later. I do not recall anyone asking lately.

I clearly disagree with the man on his opinion, but agree whole heartidly with the declarative statement about the Boy Scouts having every right to decide for themselves...which they have, and which they do.

But, even if he still holds the 1994 personal opinion, it is clear he is not going to mess with or try to force the Boy Scouts to change...I cannot say the same at all for Obama.

I surely wish we could have gotten a win from a much more conservative candidate...I was for Palin, then Cane, then Santorum then Newt...or even at this date that we could get a brokered convention to force it, But with Newt dropping out next week, I do not believe that will happen.

Also, I expect, well before the convention, in the next few weeks that Santorum, Newt, and Palin will all come out and support and endorse Romeny...Perry already did...because he is who is going to win the nomination and we simply have to get Obama out of office.

Sad, sorry state of affairs, but they are what they are.

how again is Romney better than Othugboy?

Careful, you'll upset the "Anybody But Obama" crowd.

Of course, those are the same people who created the mentality in the RNC that it doesn't matter who the candidate is, when the election comes around, they'll all get in line.

I agree:

On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Uhm - sorry it didn’t work for you. I’m likely close to your age, and was a Scout for 5 years as a youth. I’m a Scout Leader now. I don’t find any real problem having ladies as leaders as long as they run the program correctly, i.e. don’t be a Mom - be a Mentor/Coach.

The fact is that Boy Scouts (not cubs) is a Boy lead organization if done correctly. Thus, it isn’t nearly that important whether the adult leaders are men or women.

Just to put all my cards on the table - I’ve been with my own son from Tiger cubs through him receiving his Eagle a year ago. I’m still the Scout Master and plan on staying such for a few more years.

... so he could be on the receiving end?

No WAY will I vote Romney. We will deal with Obama's SC nominees through the Senate.

Admittedly, in the past, I was among those who "got in line." Not this year, though.

Well THAT’S a relief!

I know you will be providing that quote from the Bishop Romneybama that backs up your statement that “it’s clear he is not going to mess with or try to force the Boy Scouts to change.....”

I don’t know how to attribute goodness to men who say ever so clearly that that they are “open” to queers serving with regularity and title among and OVER defenseless boys who are often away from direct parental oversight.

Apparently you’re able to sleep okay having heard your nominee say that regardless when he said it. What’s changed with him since he said it? YOU have NO clue who Bishop Romneybama is beholding or in exchange for what.

I heard he already hired on an open gay as his campaign advisor on military matters.

If that is true, what’s to keep his interest in check for having openly gay leaders for Boy Scouts?

“I believe that the Boy Scouts of America does a wonderful service for this country.

Darn right it does, Willard. Don't mess with it.

I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue.

As a politician in a constitutional republic, supporting the right of a private institution to govern itself is your duty.

I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

Who cares what you "feel", willard? It's none of your damn business. As a private citizen, you have the right to express your opinion. As a politician, you should STFU. Seriously.
