Cut world population and redistribute resources, expert urges (Says Stanford Prof. Paul Ehrlich)

The world's most renowned population analyst has called for a massive reduction in the number of humans and for natural resources to be redistributed from the rich to the poor.

The optimum population of Earth – enough to guarantee the minimal physical ingredients of a decent life to everyone – was 1.5 to 2 billion people rather than the 7 billion who are alive today or the 9 billion expected in 2050, said Ehrlich in an interview with the Guardian.

"How many you support depends on lifestyles. We came up with 1.5 to 2 billion because you can have big active cities and wilderness. If you want a battery chicken world where everyone has minimum space and food and everyone is kept just about alive you might be able to support in the long term about 4 or 5 billion people. But you already have 7 billion. So we have to humanely and as rapidly as possible move to population shrinkage."

I was tempted to post a smarta$$ call for volunteers to begin depopulation at Stanford, but I think maybe God will take care of excess people. I can’t enable space travel, for example, but He can, if that’s what’s needed.

I would ask all those who are truly worried that the Earth is over-populated to sacrifice themselves to save the planet.

For those of us who believe that Earth was created for us, we and our progeny will continue to live and thrive.

Why, the people who are smart enough to recognize there is a crisis, of course. And that you're causing it.

In a nutshell he is saying we must kill 5 billion to save 2 billion in a worthwhile living environment. Oh and the 2 billion are going to be the least educated, least experienced. Basically a majority of ignorant peasants fit for slave labor and breeding more slaves.

Exactly, which is why we should demand they answer the questions.
Who are these unnecessary people and who decides? Make them spell it out.

OK Egghead—Just how you going to do that? Even brutal efforts tried in the past have failed. Anything attempting such things would be worse than Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Castro all put together—Toss in Gengis Khan as well. If Paul supports less people on this earth, he can live what he believes by jumping off the Mackinac Bridge.
