ENOUGH WITH THE OLD ARTICLES - If you can find some new Mitt-Is-Evil material more power to you but I think I speak for a lot of Freepers who are sick of your Mitt Romney or Romney vs Obama headlines that link to stories from January or last year or 2008... It’s annoying to look at a page news articles on FR and have to weed out the 20% that are SoConPubbies’ old articles reposted. We all know Mitt Romney is not Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater or Sarah Palin, but can we stick with something from the hear and now. Stop making me feel guilty about selling out conservative principles for the path of foolish and simple-minded expediency which I was driven to because I've been institutionalised by the GOP and conned into believing that there's more than diddly of a difference between Obama and Romney!

FIFY

Sorry, but I'm following posting guidelines, and Mitt Romney isn't my candidate,

I understand that you are immersed in reading articles from years ago to post ad nauseum here, but if you haven't gotten the memo or seen a current paper, Newt is out now. Your going to have to come up with a plan B. Like I said earlier, Fred Karger is still in this.

As opposed to Romney with his record that makes him a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal and a record that is comparable to Obama? Are you kidding?

One would argue, quite easily, that Gov Perry is much more Conservative on all counts than Milt, yet there were folks here who had a hard time with his past party affiliations and who he supported. It was a bone of contention with them. Just saying.

Its a no-brainer.

By this, I assume you're referring to the idea of credulously believing what a know flipflopper says on his own campaign website, while ignoring the mountains of evidence that speak against it?

The democrats couldn’t have picked a better candidate to run against.

Even if he somehow wins, which I highly doubt, the Democrats will still win since his past record is clearly one any Democrat would be proud of and is a good indicator of how he would govern.

He's already starting to "reach out" (pander) to Hispanics. If he gets through the convention and gets the nomination, I think he will push amnesty.

I think he will push amnesty.

Nothing is more destructive to the country. If there are 30 million illegals in America, its enough to make nearly 50 whole new congressional districts and every last one of them will cost us billions of dollars per year. They'll be almost exclusively hard left districts and within 20 years we'll be voting for a president for life who wants to be called "General".

All I know is the the Romney voters better pray to God that there are a lot of 3rd party voters getting people to the polls because Romney isn’t going to get the job done and downticket races will suffer for it.

Thanks for posting the link to the video, and for transcribing part of one sentence from the interview. If you actually watch the interview, Romney's idea of what to do with the illegals who are already here is right in tune with what most conservatives believe. Here's the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say:

Romney: Those people who have come here illegally, and are in this country, the 12 million or so who are here illegally, should be able to sign up for permanent residency or citizenship, but they should not be given a special pathway, a special guarantee that all of them get to stay here for the rest of their lives, merely by virtue of having come here illegally. That, I think, is the great flaw in the final bill that came forward from the Senate.

Matthews: But they shouldn't have to go home.

Romney: Well, whether they go home...they should go home eventually. In my view they should have a set period, during which period they sign up for application for permanent residency or for citizenship. But there's a set period, whereupon they should return home, and if they've been approved for citizenship or permanent residency, why that would be a different matter, but for the great majority, they'll be going home.

Matthews: The children they had, born here, are US citizens, so do the children stay here and the parents go home?

Romney: Well that's a choice, of course, the parents would make. But my view is that those 12 million who have come here illegally should be given the opportunity to sign up to stay here, but they should not be given any advantage in becoming a permanent resident or a citizen by virtue of simply coming here illegally. And likewise, if they brought a child to this country or they've had a child in this country, that's wonderful that they're growing their families, but that doesn't mean that they all get to stay here indefinitely. We're fundamentally a nation of laws. Let me underscore something here that I think is awfully important, because this immigration debate can sound anti-immigrant to a lot of people. It's not intended to be that, by myself or, I believe, by the vast majority of other people who talk about it. We value legal immigration. We welcome people coming here with their cultures and skill and education. But we are a nation of laws, and our freedoms and our liberty are associated with following the law. We have to secure our border, we have to make sure there's an employment verification system to identify who's here legally and who's not, and then for the 12 million who've come here, welcome them to get in line with everybody else, but no special pathway.

So my question here is...isn't this what we all want? if someone is in the country illegally, they should go home and get in line BEHIND those who are waiting to come here legally? If so, then how is Romney "supporting amnesty?"

I GOT IT, I GOT IT, IT FINALLY ARRIVED!!!

My dog always gets along fine with the UPS guy, but not this time.

It started with a bark, then a growl, heck, he actually attacked the package and started biting and clawing at it. My geese couldn’t help but notice all the commotion and it got them all excited.

That poor UPS guy darn near didn’t make it back to his truck... these are guard geese and if they get upset at you... well, it ain’t pretty.

It was a struggle, but I managed to get the package away from my dog. I had to lock him down because he was acting as if he thought Satan himself was inside that package.

Finally I was alone with my new treasure. It was going to change my life, I just knew it would. I opened the package and there it was.... I was sweaty, I was breathing very fast and my heart was pounding. It was every bit as beautiful as I had dreamed it would be. It has been many decades, but I remember the first time I had that same feeling. LOL

Just as it had been advertised, it even had his personal autograph.... I felt like I was going to faint.

It’s bright red! I ordered red because I have always been told that red makes my eyes look even greener.

It said “exclusive” right on it. OMG... it is labeled “Conservative Edition”!! Wow, can you believe that... it’s the best of the best!

Amazing, I now have the ability to change history right here on my desk, WOW. It’s as if I had become a god of my very own planet.

Yes, I now own an “Exclusive, Conservative Edition Etch-A-Sketch” and it’s signed by a god in training. How can it get any better than that.

If I don’t like something in the past, I simply shake it... all is right again. You can still be a conservative and if you don’t like something, just shake it.

I’ve been shakin’ it all day long and by golly, you’d be surprised of how much better I feel.

Thank you Mitt.... I really love you man.

Consider an open convention featuring a challenge to Mitt. He might have enough delegates to “override” the challenge, or a brokered convention might result (with party bosses tossing out all candidates and nominating... Portman?) Would that be better or worse than going with Mitt? Just thinking, as you requested.

Consider an open convention featuring a challenge to Mitt.

There is something occurring in state contests that lends itself to causing trouble at the convention. Paul has quietly been getting his people elected as delegates. I read it in localized news reports and through people involved in state politics. This has been job number one for the Paulites to do this from the beginning knowing that even if they are forced to be Romney delegates on the first ballot, they can hijack the proceedings in other ways.

I am not sure how strong they are or if this helps the Conservative cause, but it would be fun to see them cause Mitt all types of heartburn and maybe push the convention and our candidate to the Libertarian right.

THEN compare what he SAYS with what Obama has DONE and TRIED to do.

You're problem is that he has always spoken out of both sides of his mouth and he has a documented record of saying the conservative point of view on an issue and them implementing the Progressive Liberal issue.

Why would I listen to the words of a documented serial liar?

THEN compare what he SAYS with what Obama has DONE and TRIED to do.

Also, Mitt Romney has DONE many of the same things that Obama has done while Governor of MA.

I know admitting this is inconvienient, being a supporter of Mitt Romney as you are, but Mitt Romney really is a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal. His record proves it, leaving out what he has DONE, as you have in your argument is specious at best.
