Posted on 04/28/2012 10:41:17 PM PDT by kristinn
A dozen conservative activists interacted with dinner attendees including Woody Harrelson and Chris Matthews.
As the nations elite journalists arrived at the Washington Hilton to hobnob with President Obama at the White House Correspondents Dinner, many were met by a small group of protesters shouting "don't believe the liberal press" and holding signs adorned with photos of deceased conservative activist Andrew Breitbart.
A few notable attendees politely mixed it up a bit with the protesters, who also shouted accusations of hypocrisy at the well-dressed journalists and Hollywood celebrities.
Protester Kevin Martin asked MSNBC host Chris Matthews why he wasn't driven to the event in a hybrid vehicle and whether he intended to donate uneaten food from the soiree to the "one percent," a reference to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Matthews listened politely and even said the protesters "make a good point."
Some who walked by the group gave the middle finger, others said things like, "Oh brother, Breitbart people." A smaller number of people, including Republican Representatives Allen West and Tim Scott, offered thumbs up and words of encouragement.
The group of demonstrators are members of Free Republic, a conservative organization. This is their 13th year protesting in front of the annual dinner, but this year the group dedicated their demonstration to Breitbart, who died in March.

We'll have a full report with photos and video sometime Sunday.
In the meantime, here's a link to Stratman1969's video of Trueblackman talking to Chris Matthews here.
Brings back memories of Karl Rove doing a rap song with that bunch of clowns. One big happy family.
Good work all.
Way to GO, Freepers!!!!
Rest In Peace Andrew. :(
I would have loved to have met you. :(
That brought back SO many great memories of FR...
You East Coast Freepers absolutely ROCK!!!
We are all Breitbart. I am happy to have been only feet away from him once. RIP.
I am Andrew Breitbart.
Some more Breitbart related news for those who have not seen this thread:
LAPD: Coroners Official May Have Died From Arsenic Poisoning
Nicely played, guys. Very nicely played.
I was kind of hoping Free Republic would get back to the way it was in the late 1990s, with more active (large) demonstrations, Freeps, and the like. We had a Democrat president then, worse than the one we have NOW, and we had national turnouts all the time against him, with people like “General Chang” and others......here’s to more “in their faces” but in larger numbers. I also realize that costs some cash, so a good reason to contribute to the FR kitty.
I was SO proud to be (from afar) a part of the chanting..."Get out of Cheney's house!"...
Breitbart related? The only relation to Breitbart in that thread is some of the conspiracy theories in the comments, which are far-fetched at best.
Those words are shocking!
This POTUS is the worst ever and FReepers attacking other Freepers is more common than fighting Obama.
Thanks to kristinn for contining the good fight of the good old days on FR.
Haha try the dog its delicious.
Whoo Hoo! bttt
I once had the opportunity to join the DC chapter standing in the street greeting those coming to the event. It was one of the best times ever.
Later, we convened inside the Hilton at several tables and had a great time listening to the meeting just down the hall. To be in the company of FReepers at such and event is very very hard to beat.
Grub up some $$$ and go have a great FReeping experience.
Thanks for the warm up to the actual AAR. Looking forward to it.
Liberals reaction to Breitbart’s death are typical hateful.
The DC Elite are one big happy family indeed.....
Eat the DC Elite!!!! We’re well on our way back to feudalism with all the debt they are creating.
Thanks for the ping, and great to be with everyone last night. Here’s more photos and video, along with the Chris Matthews video and “Who Let The Dogs Out?”:
Yes, I remember you guys on that one. CLASSIC. Really made the news, too. Andrew must have been proud of it. I know I was.
Simple mistake in wording, I meant every bit of Obama being worse than Clinton (not the other way around), but my writing had it come out the opposite of what I intended. And I don't believe I attacking any other Freepers, I think perhaps unfortunately you read too much into my post.
Of course, I don't stand by my earlier mis-type and I duly correct it here for all. Obama is much worse than Clinton. Both terrible, but one definitely is the "yokzuna" while the other is an "ozeki" when it comes to overal reprehensibility.
Why is Woody Harrelson still on the “A” list?
No - Bill Clinton was actually better than Barack Obama which is hard to believe. Even Hillary Clinton or Jimmy Carter would have been an improvement. No - Obama is the worse I've seen in my lifetime.
LoL! Well done.

Very few people get the sumo reference, but I’d classify Clinton as just “makuuchi” level. I just wish someone would get a kinboshi against Yokozuna Obama. And then quickly force him to retire.
Love your Obama-Dog poster! Great to see this kind of activism. That’s what FR was all about in the early days....
| YOU GUYS ROCK!
If you want off my ping list get over it!
You’re right - WAY TO GO, FREEPERS!!!
Way to go you guys!
I actually understood your first post. What that says I’m not sure.
BUT, I think the comment about attacking other FReepers was a non-sequitor, not directed at you but at the overall tone FR has taken in the recent past where there is more intra-mural fighting than attempts to take on Obama.
It’s just awfully hard to sustain the spirit of the early days of FR or any organization for that matter. One thing this Administration has done so craftily is to create so many ‘crises’ that no one can keep up with them, they’re just exhausting.
Makes me sooo proud of you guys! Great job! Carrying Breitbart posters was an outstanding idea!
Thank you, FReepers! So proud of you!
I wasted a few hours of my life watching that horrid show last night. I can see that the audience felt like they wasted their time, also. In my heart, I wanted that show to fail...and it did. That’s the only reason I watched.
There were so many groans when there used to be laughs and standing ovations with George W. THOSE White House Correspondence Dinners were really funny! He poked fun at himself rather than others. Okay...I know it’s a roast, but how dare anyone make fun of how someone looks. What about what he stands for? Newt...you still look GOOD to me. I had so wanted him to president, and I had felt that way for so many years.
I have spent time on the internet looking for copies of those dinners with George W. I haven’t had any luck.
Once again...thank you, FReepers! RIP Andrew Breitbart!
A good report by Hollywood reporter. A good time. We had a few more than a dozen. Missing pictures of Frax, Kristinn, Buford and several others. It was rainy and a little cold but we persevered. I have never been inside but I think outside is just as much fun. Shook hands with Cong Tim Scott, SC as he greeted us. Cong Allen West also stopped and spoke to us.Join us next year.
A is for holywierd A$$holes.
The money that is sent to FR does not go to local freeps. They were financed and organized by the chapters. We could use new organizing talent, though, you are right about that.
Kudos to this group for graciously and with class making their point and kudos also to the Hollywood Reporter for this well-written, interesting piece. Strange I've never heard about this group before, but the article says they've been protesting at this dinner for 13 years in a row.
Oh well, better late than never
