Rick ok with new Romney hire

In another sign that Republicans are uniting behind Mitt Romney with an eye to November, Rick Santorum's national campaign manager has signed on as Romney's deputy national director of coalitions.

The Union Leader reports today that the Romney camp reached out to New Hampshire-based activist Mike Biundo not long after Santorum left the race for a post that will involve coalition-building with key conservative coalitions such as "tea party activists, evangelicals, the pro-life community and the Second Amendment community."

Santorum has yet to formally endorse Romney, and his camp has been careful to note that a scheduled May 4 meeting between them is not for the purposes of announcing an endorsement.

In a sign of the residual awkwardness between the GOP rivals, Biundo explained that before signing on with Romney, he "made sure it was OK" with his former boss.

“They called shortly after Rick dropped out,” Biundo said. “We had several conversations. I spoke with Rick and made sure it was OK with him before I moved, and he gave his full blessing on it.”

Oh, oh. If Rick's ex campaign manager would have been any good, Santorum wouldn't have taken such a bath in this election. Now Romney has him.

Rick did VERY WELL against a mega $millionaire, Romney. If I run, I want Rick’s campaign manager.

OTOH you could say that the manager took Santorum from asterisk status pre Iowa to serious contention this spring.

Oh, oh. If Rick's ex campaign manager would have been any good had $million in personal wealth to play with and the support of the GOP establishment elite, Santorum wouldn't have taken such a bath in this election.

There. I gave your post a sense of reality.

The guy is hugely talented at making dimes do the work of dollars. Not surprised Romney grabbed him as soon as he became available.

Since Sen. Santorum suspended his campaign, his campaign manager still needs to eat.

Presidential campaigns are crazy, hectic things. You have 50 states with 50 different rules on filing. And, an equal number and even more rules and regulations for getting delegates. The candidate is not just going after the popular vote but must also get their state delegates elected. When a snafu happens there were several most glaring was Virginia somebody is not doing their job.

The biggest mistake the Santorum campaign made was to allow the MSM describe the issues. This was the failure to connect the social issue (birth/population control) to Obamacare, hence to Romneycare and his opponents (Romney’s) record. .Because it is an integral part of that legislation.

Santorum could have done a lot better than he did in Wisconsin. As an example his website for the state primary campaign , Santorum 4/3/2012 ,titled for the date of the WI primary election and the first site refered by google it never got updated.

Rick must have made 20 public appearances there but none of those were posted in that site. It had the first posting and that remained there unchanged throughout that campaign despite repeated emails urging updating which were ignored. IIF YIU RELIED ON LOCAL MEDIA THERE WAS A VIRTUAL BLACKOUT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SOME LOCAL TALKSHOW HOSTS AND A MAJOR ONE FROM mILWAUKEE WAS FIRMLY IN rOMNEY’S CAMP.. Most voters were unaware of the many rallys Santorum was holding.

In Illinois delegates are an integral part of any presiential campaign I looked for postings on the FR Illinois state pages for those delegates and while there was better coverage of Santorum rallys it was not the same and was ignored during the Wisconsin promary. BTW on the Wisconsin ballot delegates are not listed.. .

Rick=a “Big Government Conservative”; Newt=a “Big Government Conservative”; both former POTUS Bush’s=”Big Government Conservatives” who endorsed Mitt Romney, awhile ago. Where’s the surprise?

I have no use for Romney but I can't disagree with that. They managed to pull off a tie in Michigan when Mittens defeated Mcain by 10 percentage points here in 08.

".....has signed on as Romney's deputy national director of coalitions."

The fact that a mere "campaign" has a position of such bloated bureaucratic aura smacks of Orwellian implications.

I suppose after the election Willard can appoint him as Second Deputy Undersecretary for the Ministry of Czar Appointments.

(Either that, ot the Bureau of Magic Underpants.)

Previous to Rick Perry entering the race there were the beginnings of a Bachmann Surge.

When Rick Perry announced, there was a Perry Surge and the Bachmann Surge collapsed in its infancy.

When Perry folded in the debates, the Perry Surge completely deflated and there was a Cain Surge.

When Cain was savaged by the Gloria AllWhore All Slut Brigade, the Cain Surge completely deflated and there was a Gingrich Surge.

When Gingrich blew it in the 2 pre-Florida debates, the Gingrich Surge lessened, but did not entirely deflate and was then accompanied by a new surge, not as powerful as the previous surges, the Santorum Surge, which having come after South Carolina, never had full legitimacy and could never completely deflate the Gingrich Surge.

In all that confusion, the RINOs marched lock-step behind Romney to victory.

I’m not sure what Rick Santorum’s campaign manager had to do with any of that. As someone on this thread has already pointed out, there were big mistakes made in the Santorum campaign and it’s doubtful that the campaign manager was any good at all. The Santorum Surge would have happened as it did with or without a campaign manager.

This is a pretty good hire. Santorum’s campaigning was very good this year.

On one side you have dimrat prostitutes and on the other side you have republican prostitutes (professional gop political hack operatives). The gop/e has picked their number one pimp and the gop/e operatives that sell themselves for a flight near the flame, are drawn to the source of that flame. This is normal behavior for those that sell themselves.

My reference is to people that work for whoever will pay them... they are professional political animals. Ideology and the Republic mean far less than winning. That is the context of my previous post.
