Its namesake and others seek higher taxes while dodging them themselves.Sometimes, it's all just too much to take. The president himself has admitted, if not in so many words, that the so-called Buffett Rule is little more than a gimmick. Bringing in $4.7 billion per year won't do much to solve $1.4 trillion dollar deficits. And, the administration concedes, this latest attempt at soaking the rich does little to spur growth.

As expected.
It's really a shame to see a man who once had some pride reduced to being a court jester and buffoon.
Continuing to propose increments of politically targeted spending all funded by the same one or two tax increases, meaning it doesn’t pay for anything. It in no way keeps the country from going bankrupt. Purely cynical politics.
It’s a very effective political tool to beat Republicans over the head with and keep them from using the deficits against him(Obama).
The strategy is to paint Rs in a corner into taking the position that even raising a dollar in taxes against the richest American is more of a threat to this country than any level of deficits or national debt, so no one believes that they were any better on it than Obama.
Republicans have yet to effectively counter it.
Only if the economy starts to look worse before the election, and it might, do I see Republicans having a chance.
Buffett owes about 1 billion in back taxes. He is too tight to pay it.
Americans aren’t buying the soak the rich drivel.
Why does Obama continue to divide the country? Not sure this is good strategy for him.
Obama has no real strategy
His strategy is to make everyone tired of seeing him on t.v.
No? Well Obama’s approval numbers seem much higher than I think they should be for how bad things are. And Republicans cower when asked about it. I am in doubt mode here. Maybe you mean the Americans you know personally. Seems like Republicans gave up on the argument against the $16T+ and growing debt.
I caught a few minutes of the NBC MTP ‘Woman's vote’ debate that Gregory setup between Maddow, Rosen and two Republicans Alex Castellanos and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA).
Every time Maddow brought up something Republicans voted for or against and tagged that as ‘The War on Women’, the Republicans called it a ‘Democrat distraction’. That is the best defense they could come up with. These are things that Republicans voted against like Lilly Bedwetter Act or specific things they voted for that they supposedly believe in, but apparently cant defend on national TV.
Like I say, maybe they will get lucky like Obama did in 2008 and the economy will look even worse than now. Right now they are running on :" Calling us on what we voted for/against is a distraction"
Boehner must have been filmed by Obama’s peeps having sex with 2 14 year olds. At 14, I could have done a better job
ABC This Week staged a similar debate on The Economy and as usual the Dems were aggressive and Republicans weak.
They let Krugman get away claiming the USA has the LOWEST corporate tax rates in the world. You just cannot win long term with Republican’s performances.
I warned here many times that this could happen.
Bishops: Rep. Ryan's Budget Plan Fails to Meet Moral Criteria ( 17 Apr 2012)
Once again clueless Republicans take a stand and no-one shows up to support them. They are beyond help.
Spouting platitudes is much easier than laying out intelligent arguments. I do it myself cause I’m lazy!
Then he hid his Yacht in Rhode Island to avoid the Taxes.
Of course it's even funnier because his current Wife's Late Husband, a Republican, earned the money in the first place.
Yup,know all about it.Remember,I *live* here.Every night on the local news we see a new installment of Kerry's own "Profiles In Courage".And the reporter never even manages to crack a smile. Now *that's* professionalism.
And BTW...have you ever heard of the little stunt that the senior Senator from Chappaquiddick pulled as executor of his mother's estate?
I'm still shaking my head that the former esteemed MA Senator, the Late Teddy Kennedy, died during the only year the Federal Estate Tax was ZERO Percent.
The irony is too thick to comprehend.
