BOSTON — There’s a reason why most would-be politicians start by running for lesser offices, as Massachusetts Democrats are finding to their chagrin this spring, as their anointed US Senate candidate springs one unpleasant surprise after another.
Elizabeth Warren, a 62-year-old Harvard Law School professor, seemed to have all the right stuff to regain the lost Senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy from Republican usurper Scott Brown.
In this bluest of states, she remains competitive, out-fund-raising the incumbent 2 to 1 in the last quarter. In recent statewide polls, she’s been running even or slightly ahead. Yet her campaign is sputtering, as she slips on one banana peel after another. Woman of which people? It’s turning out that she’s not quite the working-class heroine her worshipers in the limousine-liberal crowd thought she was.
Last week, news broke that Harvard Law had cited Warren as a minority hire — a Native American — when it was under criticism for lack of faculty diversity in 1996. Asked Friday for proof of her Indian ancestry, Warren’s said it’s part of her family “lore.”

She’s a frigging joke. If she stays in I can see Brown blowing her out by 7+%, which would constitute a gigantic blowout for a Republican in MA.
Sorry, Lizzy, you're just another AA hire who is incompetent, does lousy work, and was hired to fill a quota. Must be a shocker to learn that at age 62.
Recent blows:
1. Overcame a "childhood of poverty" where she had to drive an MG to high school.
2. Self-proclaimed "intellectual founder" of the Occupy Movement.
3. Recently-disclosed sweetheart no interest 20-year loan given to her by Harvard for between $10-50K.
4. Excoriates those who earn a living off their stock portfolios; has mutual fund portfolios worth several million dollars while living in a multi-million dollar Cambridge mansion.
5. Despite hectoring rich people to pay their "fair share" of taxes for the benefit of the children, couldn't find it in herself to pay at the old MA income tax rate, despite her combined household income of just under $1 million/annum.
6. "Never promoted herself" to be a member of a protected class (Native American) . . . even though proof to the contrary suggests otherwise.
Only in MA would this woman be considered a serious candidate for the US Senate.
