Al Armendariz said Monday morning that he had submitted a letter of resignation on Sunday.
Armendariz was already a lightning rod for conservative critics of the EPA in Texas before last week, when a video became public in which Armendariz spoke of "crucifying" oil and gas companies that broke the law.
Members of Congress and Texas officials jumped on Armendariz's words as proof that he had run the EPA's regional office as an anti-industry zealot.
The environmental engineer, on leave from a professor post at Southern Methodist University, sent a letter Monday to his friends and supporters:

Ran his statement thru the disgronificator; results below:
“I have been honored to serve as your regional administrator for EPA’s region 6 office the last 2 and ½ year”.
-It’s hard to beat a government job when it comes to an inflated salary, amazing benefits, and really great perks.
“I never once forgot that the reason I was appointed was to serve you, to act as your voice, and to work day and night to better protect the environment and your safety.”
- Hope you’re enjoying your gas prices!
“Today I am resigning my position as regional administrator.”
-Damn: I was hoping to string this gig out until at least 2016.
“This was not something that was asked of me by Administrator Jackson or the White House”.
-Lisa Jackson and the White House made it clear to me that if I didn’t bail, I’d better change my identity and get plastic surgery
“It is a decision I made myself.”
-Those guys who deliver messages from the Administration really are surprisingly large, to say nothing of amazingly persuasive.
“I had become too much of a distraction, and no one person is more important than the incredible work being done by the rest of the team at EPA.”
-Nothing pisses off Obama more than when one of his underlings reveals his true intentions.
“I leave with an incredible sense of pride for the things the Agency accomplished and it was fantastic to be a part of the effort.”
- I thought academics was a racket - but it doesn’t hold a candle to this bureaucratic scam!
“Administrator Jackson has overseen a renaissance in the Agency and it is again the global leader in environmental protection.”
-Finally, after 8 years of Bush, we’ve got industry and business grabbing their ankles again.
“President Obama has been incredibly supportive of me and my work and the Agency.”
-President Obama couldn’t have been more gracious in introducing me to Van Jones, Reverend Wright, his grandmother and all the rest of the crew under the bus.
“He’ll undoubtedly go down as the most environmental president we have ever had”.
Enjoy coal, petroleum, and natural gas while you can, suckers - they’re goin’ down!
“Thank you all for letting me into your homes and communities, and showing me the challenges you face every day from pollution and lack of infrastructure.”
-Nice job trying to keep me out of your homes and communities; be grateful you weren’t one of the first five I ran across in your town.
“Your stories are now part of my fabric and the fabric of the Agency.”
- Whatever - once you start making a living slinging crap, it’s tough to stop.
-Screw the lot of you,
Cultural midgets or intellectual midgets?
Cultural, in the sense that they have a stunted idea of what is going on in the real American world. Intellectual, too, but more in the sense of devoid of true wisdom.
I liked what Charles Krauthammer said after the Fox All Stars discussed this and he was asked: “Did anyone have a good day on this?”
Note that Al Hammerhead says Bobo has been "incredibly supportive" of Al crucifying energy growth in the US during the two years between the video and Al's resignation.
Maybe not word-for-word, but the whole thing sounds like an unwritten "mission statement" that was supposed to remain off the radar.
So, SMU likes this kind of ‘free speech’?
Time to give them an earful too
Did he run out and spank it on the street corner when he was outed like the KONY producer?
Or, maybe Tomorrow for May Day...?
More like he got his vanjones in a vice.
Your disgronificator is tuned most excellently.
They have been taken over by those opposed to the people getting a free flow of information.
Great headline. I was trying to figure out why someone would resign over damaging the surfaces on a video.
bEAUTIFUL. cAN YOU EMAIL ME A FULL SIZED VERSION THAT I CAN BLAST EMAIL ALL MY OIL & GAS CRONIES?
BIGFOOT2@CHARTERMI.NET—ALL LOWER CASE, sorry about the cpslock.
Never heard of Craig James?
Better than it was 50 years ago, indeed i might argue that our “free press” is perhaps more free than it has been in a 100 years. Largely a product of the internet allowing practically anyone to enter into the business.
“I want him scourged not flogged.”
I want his many victorious to sue him in Texas for abuses under the color of the law in a VERY PUBLIC trial before an elected Texas Judge.
An example need to be made of this temporizer and Washington agents need to be reminded that they are not above the law, nor are they imperial masters. They are suppose to govern with the consent NOT fear of the governed!
Cutting the Cancer out of American Govt.
One scumbag at a time.....
Yep, he will surface in some Iranian nuke site as the public face for mullah dweeb boy..oh excuse me Obamma mamba jamma lenin Khomeini..
Let’s just make it the entire federal government...they are against us..
FYI, e-mail doesn’t care about upper or lower case. There’s no functional difference between firstname.lastname@example.org and JimRob@google.com and JIMROB@google.com. They all would go the same place, if they existed.
