An annual carnival at Northland Mall in Southfield attracted hundreds of teens Saturday, but it quickly got out of control. More than a dozen people were arrested and police say the ugly incident may be gang related.
A carnival brawl in the middle of the day, a swarm of flashing lights from the parking lot of Northland Mall down 8 Mile and beyond. For hours, no matter where you looked, you'd likely see a group of kids getting arrested.
FOX 2 cameras were rolling when police surrounded one group of at least 8 teenaged boys. One by one, they were cuffed and loaded into a Detroit police van as parents pleaded with officers not to arrest their sons. Police say it was a planned fight involving at least seven gangs.
The carnival shut down early and Northland Mall was closed. Police say there were clusters of fights, one with as many as 70 people. Police say they knew it would happen because of posts on Facebook and Twitter.
There were heavy police patrols on carnival grounds for the rest of the night. More than a dozen people were arrested. There seems to be a fight at the carnival every year but police tell Fox 2 this year's problem was the biggest. Now officers hope the carnival packs up and leaves town for good.

I’ve seen this happen before.....it’s always the PICK-A-DUCK booth. The little rubber ducks are floating by and you pick one and if he has a black dot on the bottom then you win a prize. There’s always the kid who brings the black marker with him to the booth.

Back in my day, had I been involved with something like this, my Father would have taken me to the Police Station and turned me in. The embarrassment would have rippled through my Family and the shame it would have brought upon me would have been Life changing.
Today, the kids will whine and their “Parents” (if they actually have two Parents) will whine right along with them while playing the Victim Card and / or the Race Card because it fits their agenda and Society's expectations.
When I was young my father said if any of us got in trouble and we were part of a large group, he would blame us and only us. Said we were natural leaders and if the group was up to no good, it was our job to change the direction of the group. You can imagine how he took to us doing wrong when there wasn't a large group.

Parents as a plural noun, in this instance, probably does not mean "pairs" of parents, but many single parental units.
And also probably means, capable of being a parent, but not performing the duties of said appellation.
I doubt there were many “fathers” protesting the arrest of their sons. Most likely it was “single moms” saying “don’t arrest my baby! my baby!”
