~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia
Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany is a United States Marine Corps base located in Albany, Georgia. The primary mission of the units on the base is to rebuild and repair ground-combat and combat-support equipment and to support installations on the East Coast of the United States. Today, one of MCLB Albanys most important facilities is the Marine Corps Logistics Command's Maintenance Center.
The base was commissioned on March 1, 1952, as the Marine Corps Depot of Supplies. At that time, Marine Brigadier General R.P. Coffman assumed command and a small contingent of Marines established headquarters in temporary buildings.
Albany was chosen as the site for the logistics base after a two-year search in the early 1950s for a level area convenient to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean and serviced by road and rail. Albany was also attractive for its inland location, well away from the possibility of saltwater corrosion of the stored equipment, and its adequate workforce.

Today's Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, comprises more than 3,300 acres and in 2002 employed more than 2,400 civilians along with a complement of 600 marines. The Albany Maintenance Center is also the home base for the commander of the Marine Corps Logistics Bases, which includes those located at Barstow, California, and Jacksonville, Florida.
The Base mission is to provide comprehensive logistics support to the MARFOR and other customers for the full spectrum of operating and combat requirements; perform the full range of Logistics Center functions for items assigned Integrated Materiel Management responsibility; perform the full range of Inventory Management functions for PEI's subsequent to the acquisition phase.
MCLB Albany performs the full range of logistics management functions to include accomplishing assigned LEM responsibilities in the acquisition of new items of equipment, monitoring fielded Marine Corps weapons systems readiness, cataloging and delegating standardization functions for the Marine Corps, and provides central management for all assets held by the MARFOR. Learn More About MCLB Albany HERE!

Who Youre Meant To Be
May 1, 2012
Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. Quoting those words of St. Catherine of Siena, the Bishop of London began his message to Prince William and Kate Middleton at their wedding in Westminster Abbey. Many watching on TV were deeply touched as the bishop affirmed their choice to be married in the sight of a generous God who so loved the world that He gave Himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ. Then he urged the couple to pursue a love that finds its center beyond themselves.
From Romans 12, the brides brother read: I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of Godwhat is good and acceptable and perfect (vv.1-2 NRSV).
That royal wedding reminds us all, single or married, of two great truths: (1) Gods great love for us expressed in the sacrifice of Jesus and (2) Gods desire that we find lifes greatest joy and transformation in our relationship with Him. Arent those the keys to becoming the persons God meant us to be?
Although I may not understand
The path Youve laid for me,
Complete surrender to Your will
Lord, this my prayer shall be. Sherbert
We become who God meant us to be by giving ourselves completely to Him.
Read: Romans 12:1-2,9-18

Funny to have the picture of the Drum Major. Their Band was deactivated in February, along with the one at 29 Palms.

Good evening real saxophonist, thank you for joining us this evening.
This is a re-visit of a road trip we made a while back, due to technical difficulties (silly computer operator) I had to pull one out of the hat.
Thanks for the info regarding the Bands!

Home safe and sound...for now, it looks like things will be open after the road crews are done working for the day.
On the way this morning I passed one of those signs that said “Dowling closed at Potter”. They are widening a pretty old and run down road, one lane each way, into 2 lanes each way and a turning lane between.
I’ll check that route each day until it is really closed....there is a bridge over the creek that is involved. I’ve scoped out an alternate route that stairsteps me home.
