A move by Hooters to open near the new Nets arena has gone bust so far — but brownstone Brooklyn is melting down at the very thought of the risque restaurant invading their neighborhood.

Hooters reps have been trolling through the stroller-friendly neighborhoods of Prospect Heights and Park Slope for a possible storefront — but local moms say they are ready for battle.

When my sons were young, my ex didn’t bat an eye about taking the boys to Hooters to eat. She liked the food!! And we were good Presbyterian folk, too!!

Hooters might be a lot of things, but it doesn’t even come close to qualifying as “risque”.

When my son was 14 my wife took him and a bunch of his friends to Hooters for a birthday party. I don’t go in there very often but every time I do I see families in there and children of all ages.

It’s a RESTUARANT!!! A place to eat, drink and watch sports. Maybe a liquor store should open in the area instead of Hooters, would the moms like that?

Maybe the fact that NONE of those women is good looking enough to work there is the problem?

Maybe the women are afraid their husbands would spend to much time there with the nice, goodlooking, YOUNGER girls, watching sports and drinking with their friends and not at home with the shrews they married?

A few years ago, Hooters tried to establish an opening in Boston and it met with disdain from the usual groups. The restaurant finally opened but closed shortly thereafter due to unrelated issues. It is remarkable how intrusive liberal groups can be and how hypocritical their beliefs. Counter that with an experience outside Cincinnati where a female friend, her first visit to the place, said the employees were “cute, respectful and made her feel very comfortable.” We had a terrific time. I can also repeat many similar experiences in Florida, too, but the left-wingers are traditionally opposed to anything that could be deemed related to the happiness of males.

As a Christian man, I would never go to Hooters, much less take my family there, as the main attraction of the chain seems to be putting women in skimpy outfits so that men can lust after them.

But, the idea that Hooters is beneath the community standards of that part of Brooklyn or of NYC in general is rather ridiculous.

I think Hooters is a bit tacky but I also feel that people can determine what they feel is appropriate for their neighborhood. If I’m not mistaken, that’s what zoning is all about.
