EXCLUSIVE: Richard Grenell hounded from Romney campaign by anti-gay conservatives
The Washington Post ^ | 5/01/2012 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 05/01/2012 12:53:34 PM PDT by DesertRenegade

Richard Grenell, the openly gay spokesman recently hired to sharpen the foreign policy message of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, has resigned in the wake of a full-court press by anti-gay conservatives.

In a statement obtained by Right Turn, Grenell says:

I have decided to resign from the Romney campaign as the Foreign Policy and National Security Spokesman. While I welcomed the challenge to confront President Obama’s foreign policy failures and weak leadership on the world stage, my ability to speak clearly and forcefully on the issues has been greatly diminished by the hyper-partisan discussion of personal issues that sometimes comes from a presidential campaign. I want to thank Governor Romney for his belief in me and my abilities and his clear message to me that being openly gay was a non-issue for him and his team.

This is good news in my opinion. This Grenell character is 'married' to another homosexual and was way too militant on that issue. If Romney wants to get the conservative vote, he needs to surround himself with people who have values, not perverts.

...aaaaand so it goes. We’ll be seeing backtracking on all sorts of liberal/moderate stuff from now through November, and who really knows what kind of leader we’d have if he gets elected?

Wonder how many other wolves in sheep clothing are hiding amongst Romney’s ilk. I’m sick to my stomach over the coming elections.

Mitt must have suggested a particularly comfy bus for him to jump under.

At least the Mitt campaign has some people on it who still have their sanity. Or at least know that the political wind is blowing against the gay marriage crap. (It always fails when put to a plebiscite.)

Maybe Mitt has a side that’s willing to listen to his constituents? This had to be a skunk’s turd in a punchbowl for him.

This is all about the Willard.

Fact is if you want to run as a Republican and you want to win if you have too close a relationship to any homosexual politicians YOU WILL LOSE.

The Democrats rode Senator Craig hard in 2006, as they did Mark Foley, and as they were prepared to do Ken Mehlman ~ and others.

When a subordinate of Michael Steele, the previous RNC chairman wanted to try to bring some Hollywood lesbians over as Republican donors, the Washington Post was beating down the doors all over town hollering about that one ~ even louder than the folks at Washington Times and the New York Times.

To the Democrats bringing GLBT people into contact of any kind with the Republican party is just more raw meat for nasty campaigning.

They know the public will reject Republicans with gay affiliations ~ although they'll tolerate the same stuff from the Democrats.

If gay people want to participate in the Republican side of politics please send money, don't ask for a job, and no public meetings ~ or really private meetings either.

Else the Democrats will beat the Republicans about the head and shoulders with that stuff ~ and NOT A SINGLE GAY PERSON WILL RISE TO THEIR DEFENSE

Romney would not have made this mistake if he'd bothered finding out what Real Republicans think ~ the Conservatives, the TEA Partiers, the Establishment, the Country Clubbers, the elected officials.....

Guess he doesn't know enough Republicans ~ just the money men.

I"ve been trying to think of something that would be more stupid to set us up like we were set up in 2006 and just can't do it. Does MItt have a tin-ear when it comes to homosexuals?

... and if I were Mitt, I’d be grinning from ear to ear about this. The Barack campaign would be my own best advertisement.

If r0mney gets elected in November, we’ll have the kind of leader whose first choice for “spokesman” on foreign policy is a militant faggot.

So....it's ok to acknowledge that Romney has a soft spot in his heart for the gay agenda, gay marriages, and counter-conservative ideologies, BUT it's also ok to hide that so you can get conservative votes.

Is that what I'm hearing?

Make no mistake. Romney is a radical liberal. The bad thing about a wolf in sheep's clothing is that the sheep mill about saying, "Wolf, there's no wolf in our midst. All I see is sheep."

In fact, my FRiends, I'd classify Mr Romney as a 3rd Way Social Corporatist. I think that just about nails it.

I'd classify Mr Romney as a guy who wants to take our money at gunpoint to pay for abortions.

I'd classify Mr Romney as a guy who thinks faggotry is just peachy.

I'd classify Mr Romney as a guy who wants to ban guns.

I'd classify Mr Romney as a guy who thinks industry works best when controlled (if not owned outright) by government.

This is what happens when we end up with a 'moderate' Republican presidential candidate well-connected to the RNC establishment that, behind closed doors, sneer at conservatives and their values.

Romney is going to find out that he can't have it both ways. He can't profess to be a conservative yet hire an openly gay man living in an ersatz 'marriage' as his foreign policy spokesmen to demonstrate his tolerance and 'moderation' (on social issues) and expect actual conservatives to just play along. That won't work.

Frankly, Romney should work to avoid getting enmeshed in these kinds of wholly unnecessary situations and stop trying to be all things to all people. That is a path to guaranteed failure. Run against Obama as a conservative with a laser-like focus on the economy, not pandering to gays or other groups that wouldn't vote for any Republican even if their life depended on it. Mitt needs to quit worrying about what The New York Times says about him today and start worrying about how he can defeat Obama, who will have a lot of tricks up his sleeve during the campaign intended to distract voters and ridicule Romney.

I’d say it’s bad news, made worse by the resignation, for two reasons: #1 Grenell, an individual with a well known history of gay activism, was selected by the Romney campaign in the first place, #2 When challenged, Romney folded rather than stand up for his team and decision. In other words, he threw Grenell under the bus for political expediency, even though he would almost certainly hire someone like Grenell again (when Mitt no longer needs our votes).

I think Mitt Romney governs as a social liberal who takes great pride in separating private moral/religious beliefs from public action. In other words, while he may be personally opposed to homosexuality on some level, he will do absolutely nothing to stop or slow its advance politically. As governor, in fact, he seemed to make it a point to demonstrate how open minded (politically) he was about homosexuality. I think he’s one of those “while personally opposed” types.

Look at his statement too. “Me being openly gay was not an issue” to the Romney folks etc. etc. Playing the victim card.

The issue was that a National Review article said the man had an “unhinged devotion” to gay marriage, and made himself all about his sexuality—not to mention the 800 or so tweets he had to delete that trashed Newt & Callista Gingrich.

So, the left wing media will cry homophobia, and the Romney camp, who apparently tried to convince him to stay, will back them up.

Where’s the conservatism?

I think you hit the nail on the head. The media (and apparently, Grenell) will blame it on him being gay, when in reality it is because he was a militant activist who someone on National Review said had an “unhinged devotion” to gay marriage.

He also fed the victim card mafia a few bones with it too.

Not to mention the guy had a history of trashing conservatives like Newt. Did the Romney people even vet him?

"Openly Gay" = Promoting the normalization of the homosexual disorder = Promoting the Homosexual Agenda = Promoting government mandated immorality and promoting an individual and social self destructive disorder. All this in addition to attempting to normalize and promote values contrary to the GOP platform.

Good riddance I say! However, the job is not quite complete --what about the elephant still in the room, the homosexual agenda promoter Romney the RINO?
