LeMieux touts Herman Cain's anti-establishment endorsement in GOP Senate primary
Palm Beach Post ^ | May 1st | George Bennett

Former appointed Sen. George LeMieux, whose reputation as former Gov. Charlie Crist‘s "maestro" once made him the embodiment of the Florida GOP establishment, has been endorsed by Herman Cain, who hailed LeMieux’s anti-establishment credentials at a Hernando County GOP dinner over the weekend.

Let us not forget that it was Reagan who chose establishment bush as his veep.

And it was establishment mccain who chose Palin as his veep.

The same could be true here.

Nah, there’s just no way this “placeholder former Senator” makes the grade.

I heard him speak at the Orange County Republican Executive Committee Meeting last week. I was not happy to see him, as I have a similar opinion to yours, but he sounded pretty good. Especially compared to Mack...

Interesting. I didn't see this one coming and it really throws a wild card into the Florida GOP primary.

It reminds me of the freepers who hailed Adam Andrejewski as some kind of heroic, untarnished, conservative icon of the utmost honor and intergrity because he was a private sector businessman running in the IL GOP primary for Governor. They not only swore his “reformer” credentials were impeccable, but dismissed ANYONE else running (even people with solidly conservative records) as “professional politicians” who couldn't be trusted because they had been corrupted by “the system”.

But after telling us for months about how Adam walked on water and EVERYTHING that comes out of his mouth are pearls of wisdom, he endorsed and campaigned for Robert Enriquez for Secretary of State during the general election, an evil RINO scumbag in their eyes. Instead of causing them to give Enriquez a second look now that their heroic conservative reformer was vouching for him, they just cried fowl and ignored his statements for the first time ever. Some of his more bitter fans even accused him of being a “traitor” (although oddly enough, he still has tons of fans who are in love with the idea of running Adam for some huge statewide office in 2014, because he is above mere mortals and shouldn't have to stoop to having to run for a minor office like everyone else does)

I liked Adam's message, he was on my list of “acceptable” conservatives (third of the list of three conservatives, two others had better resumes for the office they were seeking), but his die-hard fans really rubbed me the wrong way. Pretty much I felt the same way about Herman Cain. I agreed with his platform, he made my “acceptable” conservative list (with Bachmann and Santorum ranking higher than him because of their resumes), but his gung-ho supporters who constantly screamed about how anyone who has ever held elective office in their life is a “Career politician” and can't be trusted really rubbed me the wrong way.

So, I'm guessing history will repeat itself, the people who told us Cain is a pillar of integrity and a brillant conservative icon that we should listen to, will simply ignore this endorsement and keep calling LeMieux a filthy RINO hack.

And history repeats itself because I disagree with Herman Cain about “LeMieux’s anti-establishment credentials”, just how I disagreed with Adam Andrejewski that Enriquez would fumigate the Secretary of State's office and lead us into a new era of transparency, but by the same token, I disagree with the freepers who would take Connie “you're a NAZI” Mack IV over LeMieux, as I disagreed with the freepers who voted for some nutty libertarian over Enriquez. Just as Enriquez was better than Jesse White, LeMieux is hardly my first choice and I don't intend to endorse him in the primary, but if someone put a gun to my head and made me choose between him and Mack, I'm ABM (Anyone But Mack) and would select the guy who didn't call Arizona legislators NAZIs.

But that's my 2 cents, and I'm still undecided on which FL GOP candidate is best. What effect with Cain's endorsement have on the race? Time will tell.

One thing is pretty clear... I think we’re gonna blow this winnable race in FL. They’re all tainted to a degree, with Mack being the worst. Too bad we can’t recruit current Lt Gov Jennifer Carroll or ex-Lt Gov. Toni Jennings.

Add to that, I think Willard will lose Florida, too.

Check out the dark horse, Mike McCalister. He’s the real deal!

Mike McCalister is a retired U.S. Army Colonel, businessman, and university instructor.

Colonel McCalister served honorably in the Army National Guard, Army Reserves, and on Active Duty for a total of 33 years between 1971 and 2005. He has worked with physicians at biotech and healthcare companies to improve efficiencies in the healthcare system, is a licensed agri-business professional, and owner of a small tree farm. He is also a university instructor, teaching practicing, professional students about today’s global economy and global business operations, strategy, and policy.

Colonel McCalister holds a B.S. in Agriculture from Southeast Missouri State University, Ph.D. in Management from the Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a graduate of The Command & General Staff College, the Army War College Defense Strategy Curriculum, and The Air War College; and he has completed the Harvard University Program on Senior Executive Leadership.

Colonel McCalister is an unapologetic conservative. His number one priority will be to get Floridians back to work by cutting spending, reducing the deficit, lowering taxes, and protecting our products and proprietary technologies and investments against unfair foreign competition. Colonel McCalister believes that Barack Obama and Bill Nelson are destroying our country with their reckless policies, and is frustrated that political insiders have done little to combat high unemployment, rising gas prices, and falling home prices.

I couldn’t guess if he’s really more conservative than Mack or not but Pepe LePew trails Nelson even worse than he does. Yuck. What a crap race. It is only May and numbers can change but..

How is McCallister tainted? Other than by a lack of name recognition and support of course?

Gotta pray that someone else reconsiders and gets in before the deadline or that Mack the lesser overcomes his faults and manages to win on his daddy’s name.

I expect Myth will win the state though.

In Jan. 2010, I walked five precincts for Adam. When he endorsed Enriquez, I didn’t care. I voted for the libertarian candidate for secretary of state, Josh Hanson.

I voted for Enriquez, I was not convinced he was any kind of super RINO. Doesn’t matter, the senile swine White was sure to win.

I did not vote for that crap Topinka though. I would rather switch her out for Enriquez or whoever ran against Princess Lisa.

The Republican, who ran against Attorney General Madigan, was Steve Kim. Last week, I posted a wall-to-wall facebook comment, and I asked him to run for the state senate, in the 9th District. The incumbent is a Democrat, but he’s not running for re-election. No Republican is running.

That’s a shame. It’s not likely we can win that seat but it’s not one you can justify not even having a candidate in. I wish we would contest EVERY seat of course.

I agree that a Republican should run in each legislative race. Who are the republican candidates in your state senate and state house districts? If no one is running, I hope that you’ll run.
