In March of 2011, former Rep. John Leboutiller predicted in a News Max article that, the tea party will select the 2012 GOP nominee.
At the time, it was a safe prediction given the strength of the tea-party movement in the 2010 elections and the influence it was expected to have on the GOP presidential primaries just over a year later. But something went terribly wrong in the meantime. Many politicians heavily supported by the tea-party movement seem to have switched sides, pursuing their own agenda at the expense of the conservative movement and the tea party.
Take Christine ODonnell, for example. ODonnell lost her bid for the U.S. Senate in Delaware but continues to have a following among tea-party activists. Inexplicably, she recently endorsed Romney, stating she is doing so because she thinks infrastructure and executive experience are important. She also claimed, Hes been consistent since he changed his mind.
One wonders if the $5,000 ODonnell received in 2010 from Romneys Free and Strong America PAC had any influence on her decision.
Similarly, the tea-party movement was heavily involved in the election of South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, but she endorsed Romney last month, claiming in her endorsement remarks, He knows how to create jobs and turn the economy. Haley also received some big bucks from Romney; to be precise, she took $36,000 from Romneys various PACs over the last few years, more than any other gubernatorial candidate.
Then theres Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, a long-time favorite of tea-party activists. Chaffetz is actually a member of the Romney Truth Squad that goes around harassing Newt Gingrich everywhere he speaks. Chaffetz claims Romney is a fiscal conservative and that due to his budget cuts in Massachusetts, tea partiers love him. But Chaffetz also loves Romneys money since he received almost

et tu, Christine?
I’m surprised at her, especially since she got royally stabbed in the back by the party, in particular K Rove.
Chaffetz is mormon...didn't need to be bought off with money.
It is called Pacification.
When we took a town in Germany during WW II we rounded up a few SS leaders and summarily shot them in public, then the rest seemed to get more pliable and tried to get along.
The GOPe play this game extremely well.
The DEMs have it down to a science.
Romney endorsed O’Donnell in her primary run against Castle.
I can’t think of a single reason to “take Christine O’Donnell,” but are defections by TEA Party members numerous? I don’t keep up on their doings, and have (perhaps foolishly) assumed the defectors to be no more than ten percent of 2010 crop. Wrong? Thanks for any enlightenment.

I need representatives and statesmen who will quietly do their taxpayer funded jobs and do so with minimal, or better yet, no government intrusion into my legitimate and honest enterprises.
Float a navy, make sure the courts have judges, and stay the f-f-heck out of the way. That's all I ask.
Does a “I’m not going to vote for Romney” post count as an “anti-Romney post”?
Just trying to figure out if I’m one of your “dimwits” or maybe not.
As I understand it, this is a Conservative site for Small Government, Pro-Life, Pro-2nd Amendment, Anti-queer Conservatives. Romney and his supporters are identical to the kenyan and his people in that neither side of that same coin is for anything remotely Conservative.
Maybe Conservatism doesn't align with your agenda. If so, then why take up any more bandspace here, cheerleading for either of the queerloving gungrabbers?
I foresee a heavy FR thunderstorm with intense lightning in your immediate future.
If you are going to lie to support your views, at least have the decency not to lie about the military.
In the extremely remote chance you are correct, please post the name of just one of those towns.
Nothing shocking here. Candidates who receive support often return the favor. Why weren’t Santorum, Gingrich, and the other Presidential candidates out there trying to elect Republicans in 2010? Say what you will about Romney’s record on the issues, but it is hard to deny that he ran the most savvy campaign.
If that's true, and I have no reason to doubt you, it seems odd that Rove immediately came out on FOX and went on a rant of how COD was too unqualified, inadequate, and inexperienced to represent Delaware. Especially since Romney was clearly in the good graces of Rove at that time (and apparently still is).
In addition, my understanding was that an O'Donnell ‘no’ vote on the impending obamacare legislation could have stopped it from becoming law, or at least put a significant wrench in the works. The Delaware senate seat was that important.
It happened just because you find it distasteful doesnt change it. I only have anecdotal accounts from family and friends that were there. We also shot unarmed prisoners whether you or I like it or not.
We don't document stuff like that, but there are plenty of examples of Germans doing exactly that, because they were above all, documentarians.
War is nasty business, it should not be a game like the ones we play now. Harry Truman and the Commies invented the Kings X warfare we currently use to get our brave men and women killed. To win a war, someone must surrender, MacCarthur was the last man to accept an unconditional surrender, and I expect her really was the last man.
Danged autocorrect.
Jason Chaffetz has done a lot of good work for conservatives, Tea party members, and Republicans in the House of Representatives. He was one of the first several years ago to expose the thuggish tactics of the TSA. He is working with Darrell Issa to find Eric Holder in contempt of Congress (something Boehner is opposing, for whatever stupid reason.)
And how do you like living in Tokyo, itsahootsan?
So? He doesn’t need to be bought off by Romney. He would be in Romney’s camp purely because of their mormon roots. Can you prove otherwise?
