President Obamas trip to Afghanistan, which lasted just 6 hours and 5 minutes, ended with birthday cake for the President and the White House press corps even as Kabul erupted in violence, according to the pool report.
The impromptu party occurred during the flight last night from Bagram Airfield as the president led the press cabin in a round of Happy Birthday after serving birthday cake, complete with a lit candle, to Bloomberg reporter Julianna Goldman, according to Politicos Josh Gerstein, who was aboard Air Force One.
Goldman, who moderated a Republican primary debate in October, belongs to a family that has been prominent in Democratic politics and fundraising for some time. Her ex-husband is David Shuster, the former MSNBC daytime host who used to guest-anchor Keith Olbermanns Countdown.
Her parents are Democratic donors and power-players in Washington.

Just plain insanity!! God...please help us.
Today would be, a great great day, to just lay back, and have ourselves a cake. Hmm-hmm-la-dee-da-de-da...
Was it a composite cake?
Did you noticw the picture at the link?
If that’s Air Force One, the picture is disgusting. People have stuck their personal photos all over the place on the overheads. Obama and his Marxist staff think it’s their personal billboard.
It may be designated AF1, but the isle looks too narrow for a 747.
What will the peasants eat?
I guess this is just another of those depending on what the meaning of "impromptu" is. How in blazes could there have been a "birthday cake, complete with a lit candle" if it wasn't planned in advance? Or are we supposed to believe AF-1 always carries birthday cakes and candles for just such occasions?
“Let them eat cake”
You’re right. That is NOT a 747. Maybe Moochelle needed the usual one to fly out to Target this morning.
First thing I noticed!
