I understand the fear most have of another 4 years of Obama, so they think they have to choose the lesser of two evils to preserve what they want to protect from absolute ruin. Somehow they justify the sacrificing of their principles and faith once again for political and national expediency.

Voting for a lesser of two evils to “buy us more time” or “to stop Obama” is not just giving up essential liberty, it’s giving up one’s faith and principles for the purpose of saving their own interests.
There are other ways to stop a tyrant, but nearly everyone thinks the vote this November FOR a Liberal Socialist is the only way.

Principled Conservatives will get the blame for an Obama win (already a major talking point of the Romney camp) and if by some miracle Romney gets the nod, everything Obama has done becomes institutionalized and cemented as legitimate by “one of our own”.

Good question, and I don't know the answer. I haven't followed Cheney's politics in recent years. I'm guessing he has no interest in future political positions and simply believes Romney can defeat Obama, but I'm only guessing when I write that.
Do you have a better idea? If so I'd like to know.
