Romney on new Obama 2012 slogan: 'Forward, what, over the cliff?' By Justin Sink - 05/03/12 08:22 AM ET
Mitt Romney mocked President Barack Obama's new campaign slogan on Wednesday.
"His new slogan is: Progress - no, forward. Forward! That's it. Progress would be better," Romney said, according to a pool report. "I must use that one myself, actually. Forward is his new slogan, and it's like, forward, what, over the cliff?"
The presumptive Republican nominee was speaking at the Pentagon City Ritz Carlton at an event that brought in some $625,000 for the Romney campaign. Guests included Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, former U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.), Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and Romney adviser Ed Gillespie, along with prominent Northern Virginia fundraisers. Tickets cost $2,500 for the general reception and $10,000 for a VIP reception where guests were guaranteed a photo opportunity with the candidate.
Romney's remarks centered primarily on his concerns over a struggling economy.
Almost every other day Ill sit down with a group of individuals, and sometimes its kind of heartbreaking, he said. Obama didnt create the recession, but he has overseen the most tepid recovery we have seen since Hoover.
Virginia governor Bob McDonnell, rumored to be on the short list for Romney's vice presidential, blasted President Obama during his comments at the event.
This is the most critical election weve seen in modern American history and there is no rationale for the Obama presidency, said McDonnell. I believe for such a time as this, by divine providence we get the right kind of leader.
Romney will continue to campaign in Virginia on Thursday, where former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is set to endorse his campaign at an event in Portsmouth. President Obama will kick off his campaign with an event at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond on Saturday.
OK, Who has the cartoon of the liberals all running into a hole in the ground?
I’ll take mocking.
High time someone did it.
In fact, I think mocking should be the centerpiece of the campaign against against Zero.
Obama will kick off his campaign with an event at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond on Saturday.
LOL When did he “stop” campaigning. He’s the perpetual campaigner besides being a pathological liar.
Can’t wait for the Mittwitt’s campaign theme:
“I know you are, but what am I?”
Into the iceberg.
I’m not Mitt crazy, but I do like his unabashed style of attacking the opponent. Seems Republicans and conservatives are devoid of this character trait so it’s kind of refreshing. Romney needs to pull back the fluffy veneer of Obama, exposing his hateful, callous, arrogant, narcissistic, contemptuous and commie self.
Now if someone can combine this with word FORWARD with the Obama-O it would be the perfect parody.
Romney has already gone after Obama more times than McCain did his entire campaign.
Keep it up. Leftists can’t take mocking of their life’s calling, that is enslaving everyone else, especially when they think that after the revolution, they will be selected to be the new overlords. Useful idiots!
I got your new slogan right here:
Looks like RINO season in Northern VA. Gillespie should be locked in a closet until after the election.
and point out the communist connections of 0bama's campaign slogans, book titles, phrases used, etc.
(new meaning today)
One thing I liked about Mitt, and I said it at the time, was that in the debates he mostly kept his focus on Obama. I wish the other candidates had all done the same. Of course differences should be laid out between the candidates, but not to the point where they are forgetting that Obama is the main problem.
Can’t stand Romney, but gotta give him kudos for slamming The One on the slogan.
Thank you to much.
