The conservative group One Million Moms has launched an attack on JCPenney for featuring a lesbian couple in its new Mother's Day promotion.
The group released a statement urging its members to take action against the brand's store managers, in the hope their complaints will be passed on to head office.
According to its website, One Million Moms (OMM) is angry JCPenney is 'taking sides' in the 'cultural war' on gay rights.
The statement says: 'On pages ten and eleven, under the title Freedom of Expression, youll find Wendi and her partner Maggie and daughters. In the picture both women are wearing wedding bands.'
They then go on to lament their frustration with the company's lack of interest in the groups constant attacks.
'Last time OMM contacted JCPenney store managers, we were brushed off,' the statement said. 'Some even experienced in person the store manager saying "Thank you" and walking off while their customer and our concerned members were in mid-sentence.'
It continued: 'OMM has been told that JCP corporate office told store managers to say "Thank you" and then walk away. If they want our business, then we will not be ignored!'
Earlier this year, the group threatened to boycott JC Penney after the retail chain appointed Ellen DeGeneres as its spokesperson.
More recently the anti-gay group targeted Urban Outfitters after the clothing retailer featured an image depicting a kiss between two female models in its latest catalog.

There is this constant effort to try to have this lifestyle not only tolerated, but accepted and celebrated. They couldn't care less about their Christian customers which make up a much larger than the 1-2% of the population who is homosexual.
Read the comments below the article, though. In all but two of the comments (at this point), people are praising JC Penney and admonishing One Million Moms and conservative Christians for intolerance. It's either the libs have flooded the comments in this per usual or more and more people rejecting Judeo-Christian values and are embracing the homosexual lifestye under the banner of tolerance. The debate has been framed that conservative Christians are intolerant, and nobody wants to be intolerant. Liberals deem that as one of the worst sins, unless you're intolerant to conservative Christians, that is.
"These homophobes really need to get a life. I say good for these retailers for showing diverse families in their advertisements."
"Welcome to 2012, OMM. There are people of the same sex in relationships that *gasp* have kids. If you don't like it, don't shop there. Easy enough. No need to force your values and opinions to the rest of the customers."
"Such hate by these anti-gay groups. This is 2012 for crying out loud! What, do we have to have another civil rights movement to jolt these people into reality? Lesbian, gay, straight, transgender, transsexual - live and let live!"
One person says:
"Just because someone may not be comfortable with another person's same-sex relationship doesn't make them a homophobe!"
Getting this response:
"Ummmmmm.....yes it does. If you were black and i was not comfortable with you, would that make me a racist? yes, it would. works the same way. sorry, i know you Christians like to think that you are doing good, "God's work" but it is hate no matter how you try to spin it"
"So JC Penny is not hopping on the" hate gays" train...good on them...what will these mom's do when one of their children tells them they are gay?....I hope gay boys and girls, who are born gay, are only born to loving parents who love them for who they are.."
Good—We must stand up for our beliefs or see them fall to perversion. Stores want to feature Gays to show how Hip and Coll they are—FINE—let Gays shop there—all Normals can go somewhere else! Lots of other places do not focus on the Gay market. If you don’t think its important—wait to see the Gay movies, gay TV shows and gay lifestyle thats coming along with every other “Formerly forbidden” behavior. How long will it be before we have child sex? Ritual murder? It is a slippery slope.
How do they know they are lesbians and not sisters, friends, mother, daughters and granddaughters, etc?
On the contrary, I think the majority of Americans are accepting of homosexuals... as awful as it is for me to say. But not in the way the commercial went, I think most people feel they are okay with whatever people want to do, as long as it doesn’t infringe on them. Believe me I wish it weren’t true!
Maybe not to embrace the lifestyle, I most people are in a mindset of being afraid of seeming intolerant. In the same way that most white people aren’t racist, but most white people are afraid of being racist so they go to the extreme to make themselves seem accepting of other races... which usually just makes them look more ignorant.
In this same manner, I think JC Penney is getting caught up in the fear of seeming intolerant so they are going to the extreme and embracing the lifestyle. Stupid move in my opinion, but until white people can break this spiral of being afraid of looking racist or intolerant, this is far from stopping.
‘On pages ten and eleven, under the title Freedom of Expression, youll find Wendi and her partner Maggie and daughters.
I guess this explains it
They had two women together and text with it talking about "her partner". Ticked off Mrs. K51 so bad, she wants to stop shopping there completely.
Amazing. You have to be tolerant of homosexuals, but homosexuals do not have to be tolerant of heterosexuals.
Gay people do not bother me......... fags do.. the difference is that gay people do not try to force their orientation and their agenda on you.... fags do
Penny’s with this ad is offending 98% of the America population and with the Million Moms Boycott, JCP will be out of business by the end of the summer.
Main Street reflected American culture until corporations took over and forced a godless culture upon us.
“JCPenney under attack from conservative group over lesbian couple in new Mother’s Day campaign...”
JCPenney being questioned in a statement from a group of normal people, over perverted lesbian couple in new Mother’s Day campaign, which mocks the very idea of this highly respected American traditional holiday.
Can you give an example?
Perhaps they were Wendy and Maggie were lawyers.
Good to know...I am going to be buying some clothes soon at my local mall. JCP WILL NOT get my business.
Thanks for the link. Email explaining our shopping elsewhere explained. Is a shame because I liked their big and tall section.
It not only mocks Mother's Day, but the existence of lesbians pretending to be mothers, destroys Mother's Day and motherhood, not unlike homosexual marriage destroys the institution of marriage.
This attack on motherhood and marriage must stop.
I buy most of my clothes from the J.C. Penney catalog (I’m 6’5” tall, and they offer tall clothing). It’s been a struggle, what with Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson, and a catalog filled to the brim with effeminate metrosexuals modeling the clothes. I think my order last month was my last one. Later, J.C. Penney.
Perhaps you would be surprised the originator of the American Mother's Day regretted the commercialization of her holiday, officially established by Congress in 1914, and fought against it by the time she died ... in 1948.
I suspect your "very idea" of "tradition" is nothing more than the crass commercial perversion of what Anna Jarvis had envisioned.
