JCPenney under attack from conservative group over lesbian couple in new Mother's Day campaign
Daily Mail ^ | May 2, 2012 | Olivia Fleming

The conservative group One Million Moms has launched an attack on JCPenney for featuring a lesbian couple in its new Mother's Day promotion.

The group released a statement urging its members to take action against the brand's store managers, in the hope their complaints will be passed on to head office.

According to its website, One Million Moms (OMM) is angry JCPenney is 'taking sides' in the 'cultural war' on gay rights.

The statement says: 'On pages ten and eleven, under the title “Freedom of Expression,” you’ll find “Wendi and her partner Maggie and daughters”. In the picture both women are wearing wedding bands.'

They then go on to lament their frustration with the company's lack of interest in the groups constant attacks.

'Last time OMM contacted JCPenney store managers, we were brushed off,' the statement said. 'Some even experienced in person the store manager saying "Thank you" and walking off while their customer and our concerned members were in mid-sentence.'

It continued: 'OMM has been told that JCP corporate office told store managers to say "Thank you" and then walk away. If they want our business, then we will not be ignored!'

Earlier this year, the group threatened to boycott JC Penney after the retail chain appointed Ellen DeGeneres as its spokesperson.

More recently the anti-gay group targeted Urban Outfitters after the clothing retailer featured an image depicting a kiss between two female models in its latest catalog.

Well I work there.. and this is no surprise to me...I’ll be making an exit now from that store. They are very much liberal ... promote the green agenda as well...heavily...as well as other left issues.

I wasn’t aware of this when I took the position...but it wasn’t long after it became apparent....with the new CEO coming from Apple Computer theres a huge transition now in the store...and it will move further to the left IMO.

“I suspect your “very idea” of “tradition” is nothing more than the crass commercial perversion of what Anna Jarvis had envisioned.”

####

I suspect your weird tangential foray off the main issue at hand here, reflects an agenda.

And you’ll be seeing more of this in the future...they are definately going further left....and promoting the left agenda.

Big tranistions now within Penney’s as new ceo moves it “forward” into what is the New Penneys.

Sad really....but they are definately on board with the left now in this new transition.

Penny’s with this ad is offending 98% of the America population and with the Million Moms Boycott, JCP will be out of business by the end of the summer.

Seems like JCPenney is on its way out regardless; this is just a parting gesture of defiance. Or perhaps, a desperate bid for bailout money.

My letter to JCP.

Most people I know wouldn’t care about this in your face Lesbian promotion. The problem is that although we supposedly are to celebrate diversity in this free nation? Gay’s and Lesbians are wholly offended when Christanity is celebrated. So they asked for the battle and this battle is now on your doorstep where you placed it. We as an extended family of successful people have just scratched you off our shopping options.

As I said and it’s worth repeating. I don’t care about someones sexuality. I care that they are the most discriminatory minority in our population and are vocal and vigilant in trying to deny freedoms to anyone but their own victim class. Choice has a price.

Sincerely,

Why does madison avenue keep pushing “toxic advertising”?

Why do corporations keep buying “toxic ad” campaigns that open merchants up to such attack.

Retailers should understand “toxic ads” destroy profits.

JCPenney should just close its doors.

It grieves me to state this but I'm afraid that marriage as we know it is on the ropes in America. The 'gay' lifestyle is gaining acceptance and using 'tolerance' as the key to that acceptance via 'mainstreaming' homosexual couples, as in the JCP catalog, is a big part of that transformation of attitudes. Co-habitation is somewhere around 40% of all households, today. The illegitimacy rate if huge and, as this thread proves, Corporate America is determined to 'push the envelope' on homosexual lifestyles, pretending, ala Jerry Seinfeld, that 'there's nothing wrong with that'!

Meanwhile, Hollywood cranks out TV shows and movies with always-sympathetic 'gay' characters and promotes the idea that being gay is as 'normal as apple pie' and to object to the homosexual lifestyle is sheer bigotry and probably based on Christian beliefs that the secular world long ago rejected in favor of humanism.

JC Penney and it's hip new CEO may think they're appealing to young buyers but most JCP shoppers are over 30 and many will be turned off by this oh-so subtle attempt to disparage motherhood (as gays disparage marriage) by boldly including lesbians in their ads. I hope it backfires, big time, but when you dangle the 'tolerance' tag in front of otherwise sensible people, they often are persuaded to be 'tolerant' and meekly accept lesbians modeling in their JCP catalog as 'the new normal'.

This is the unpleasant reality we face, today. Negative reaction to this attempt to incorporate lesbians in Penney's ads/catalogs may have some effect on the JCP honchos but, to be frank, in 2012 America, with the current social climate of rampant hedonism and a 'whatever' approach to life by many, I doubt anything will change. And it only took about 40 years to get here. Chilling.

“Main Street reflected American culture until corporations took over and forced a godless culture upon us.”

Right. This is why I think it's important to do business with the 'Mom and Pop' stores as much as we can. Some times it costs a little more but consider it the price to be paid in the culture wars. And you generally get better and friendlier service too, on top of keeping the money local.

During the Christmas season, for example, I don't patronize any establishment who won't say “Merry Christmas”, and that includes restaurants. Sure, it's inconvenient at times but I can still look at myself in the mirror.

Can you give an example?

Tell a homo that you don't approv of his/her life choices and see what kind of response you get.

Then let us know how "tolerant" it was.

Amazing. You have to be tolerant of homosexuals, but homosexuals do not have to be tolerant of heterosexuals. Can you give an example?

Seriously? I know homosexuality is a sin, an abomination. What homosexual is tolerant of that viewpoint?

By the time you park and walk into a big box store and walk while you shop, you could cover a few blocks on Main Street and have a more pleasurable time.

Homosexuals by their mere existence and their agenda to force gay marriage on upstanding Christians and Americans are attacking us each and every day.

We cannot open a Penny's catalog without having to see a lesbian couple with children.

Our TV sets broadcast Images of gays and lesbians on every channel.

There are homosexuals that teach in our schools, homos that serve food in restaurants, homos who may live in our neighborhoods and work in our places of employment. Sometimes they are obviously gay, but there are some gays that subversively integrate themselves into the community.

They want a culture war. I've got an idea, let's give them a culture war. "War" means two sides. So far our side hasn't done much except tolerate, compromise, pretend it's not happening, make excuses, and so on. Of course some have fought for morality, but not enough to stem the tide. They want war? Let them have war.

Well, please tell Mrs. K51 it’s okay to shop elsewhere. I’ve found other places to spend my money, after having shopped at JCP for many years. But I’m done. Have moved on. It was easy. No big deal.

It's a shame I can't join this boycott. I already "boycott" Penney's because it's a lousy store. Oh, well.
