Right. This is why I think it's important to do business with the 'Mom and Pop' stores as much as we can. Some times it costs a little more but consider it the price to be paid in the culture wars. And you generally get better and friendlier service too, on top of keeping the money local.
During the Christmas season, for example, I don't patronize any establishment who won't say “Merry Christmas”, and that includes restaurants. Sure, it's inconvenient at times but I can still look at myself in the mirror.
By the time you park and walk into a big box store and walk while you shop, you could cover a few blocks on Main Street and have a more pleasurable time.
