Russia threatens to strike NATO missile defense sites
Washington Times ^ | May 3, 2012 | Shaun Waterman

Posted on 05/03/2012 12:33:33 PM PDT by Navy Patriot

Russia’s most senior military officer said Thursday that Moscow would preemptively strike and destroy U.S.-led NATO missile defense sites in Eastern Europe if talks with Washington about the developing system continue to stall.

“A decision to use destructive force preemptively will be taken if the situation worsens,” Russian Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov said at an international missile defense conference in Moscow attended by senior U.S. and NATO officials.

The threat comes as talks about the missile defense system, which the U.S. and its allies insist is aimed at Iranian missiles, appear to have stalled.

“We have not been able to find mutually-acceptable solutions at this point and the situation is practically at a dead end,” Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said.

Ellen Tauscher, the U.S. special envoy for strategic stability and missile defense, insisted the talks about NATO plans for a missile defense system using ground-based interceptor missiles stationed in Poland, Romania and Turkey were not stalemated.

Not defending them. That is their strategic outlook. They are a VERY paranoid people, who fear their adversaries defense more than their offense. Typically because they view every war they have fought since the Golden Horde to be a defensive war.

This fear has lead to Russia doing a lot of odd and silly things in their history. By putting anti missile bases in their sphere of influence, we are feeding this traditional fear. I honestly suspect someone in the Pentagon knew this, and that was the goal. The missiles won't stop a full on Russian attack (unless their capabilities are a lot smaller than we have been led to believe), but it will get them all fired up.

Read history and strategy. Russia is acting like Russia again.

There are many in Russia, including their permanent leader, 'KGB Putin', who would like to see a return of the Soviet Union. This will of course involve an invasion of their neighbors (again), particularly their former satellites, Georgia, Ukraine, etc. This is why they fear a NATO missile defense system. They also don't want it compromising their allies', Iran and North Korea, nuke programs.

Russia and China are aligned with Iran and those three will be soon aligned with the EU

Exactly right, Iran is strengthened and increases as a thorn in the side of the US and antisemitic Western Europe, Muslims are stronger and cause more trouble in Russia's competitors (or enemies if you wish)

...just how in the world does that qualify as backing Christianity over Islam?

In Eastern Europe and Russia there is strong government support for Christianity, driving Muslims, especially terrorists to emigrate West. Russia is making their territory Christian and exporting misery to their competition.

Russia and China have Muslims killing Muslims in Syria and won't allow NATO to come in and save the lives of the Muslim Brotherhood like in Egypt and Libya. Which policy gets more and the most dangerous Muslims dead, and divides their forces? Which policy kills Coptic Christians or Jews?

Russia views those former satellites as part of the “Third Rome”. Once you are part, you can't leave. They will move to reoccupy those states someday. Their outlook pretty much demands it. Not to mention the Pan Slav leanings.

Now think of this. A good portion of the West Coast of North America was claimed by Russia at one point. If the balloon ever goes up here, they will be tempted to step in and reclaim those lost areas.

You set 1980's developing defensive technology against developed 2010's offensive technology, and conclude that defensive technology is worthless, it is not. It is far better than nothing.

You also miss the entire point of Reagan's SDI. It was designed to use a weapon the Soviets didn't and never could have, and to establish a trust that could be earned by both the US and the Soviets.

It was an unparalleled success.

Russia and Islam are not Separate:
Why Russia backs Al-Qaeda

By Konstantin Preobrazhensky

Americans generally believe that Russia is afraid of Islamic terrorism as much as the U.S.A. They are reminded of the war in Chechnya, the hostage crisis at the Beslan School in 2004 and at the Moscow Theater in 2002, and of the apartment house blasts in Moscow in 1999, where over 200 people were killed. It is clear that Russians are also targets of terrorism today.

But in all these events, the participation of the FSB, Federal Security Service, inheritor to the KGB, is also clear. Their involvement in the Moscow blasts has been proven by lawyer Mikhail Trepashkin, a former FSB Colonel. For this he was illegally imprisoned, and is now suffering torture and deprivation of medical assistance, from which he is not likely to survive.

A key distinction between Russian and American attitudes towards Islamic terrorism is that while for America terrorism is largely seen as an exterior menace, Russia uses terrorism as an object as a tool of the state for manipulation in and outside the home country. Islamic terrorism is only part of the world of terrorism. Long before Islamic terrorism became a global threat, the KGB had used terrorism to facilitate the victory of world Communism.

This leads to the logical connection between Russian and Islamic terrorism. The late Alexander Litvinenko, poisoned in London in November, 2006, told me that his former FSB colleagues had trained famous Al-Qaeda terrorists Ayman Al-Zawahiri and Juma Namangoniy during the 1980s and 1990s. Ayman Al-Zawahiri, one of the world's most wanted terrorists, has been responsible for the murder of U.S. nationals outside the United States. Before his death, Juma Namangoniy (Jumabai Hojiyev), a native of Soviet Uzbekistan, was a right-hand man of Osama bin Laden in charge of the Taliban's northern front in Afghanistan.

In 1996, Alexander Litvinenko was responsible for securing the secrecy of Al-Zawahiri's arrival in Russia, who was trained by FSB instructors in Dagestan, Northern Caucasus, in 1996-1997.

At that time, Litvinenko was the Head of the Subdivision for Internationally Wanted Terrorists of the First Department of the Operative-Inquiry Directorate of the FSB Anti-Terrorist Department. He was ordered to undertake the delicate mission of securing Al-Zawahiri from unintentional disclosure by the Russian police. Though Al-Zawahiri had been brought to Russia by the FSB using a false passport, it was still possible for the police to learn about his arrival and report to Moscow for verification. Such a process could disclose Al-Zawahiri as an FSB collaborator.

In order to prevent this, Litvinenko visited a group of the highly placed police officers to notify them in advance. "If you get information about some suspicious Arabs arriving in the Caucasus, please report it to me before informing your leadership", he told them.

Juma Namangoniy was once a student of the Saboteur Training Center of the First Chief Directorate of the KGB in 1989-91. The school was notorious for the international terrorists who matriculated from it. It now belongs to the FSB, and since only KGB staff officers were allowed to study there, Juma Namangoniy's presence clearly suggests that he was much more than a civil collaborator.

Mohammed Atta, the pilot of the first plane to crash into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, had met with a senior Iraqi intelligence agent in Prague, Czech Republic, five months before the attack. But Iraqi intelligence was just a client of Russia's intelligence service. It brings a new understanding to the fact that President Putin was the first foreign President to call President Bush on 9/11. One may conjecture that he knew in advance what was to happen.

Muslim Name and Communist Heart

Tartars have always been patriotic to Russia. Their independent kingdom was conquered by Russia in the 16th century, but their gentry were allowed to join the Russian upper class and enjoy all its privileges. Even today, many Russian families of noble origin have Tartar origins. Russia has a half-millennium of experience in turning conquered Muslim nations into obedient citizens by bribing their elite.

There are many Soviet Muslims, therefore, who seem to face no conflict of spirit. One can be a Muslim in name only, whose heart belongs to Communism. There have been a lot of such people among Russian Muslims, especially among the Tartars. The Soviet Union has typically preferred to appoint them as ambassadors to Muslim countries. Their Muslim names give them a pass to the local society, but their Communist hearts order them to serve world Communism and not the world of Islam.

In the Soviet period, the highest leadership of the Muslim republics like Uzbekistan were unofficially allowed to practice Islam under the guise of folk rites, even though their Russian colleagues were severely reprimanded for participating in such Christian "rites" as Christmas or Easter. Unlike today, Soviet cartoonists were able to mock Islam as they mocked all other religions and it didn't bring any special reaction.

Muslims of the Uzbek and other Central Asian republics' elite joined the KGB intelligence in order to spy on fellow Muslim countries. In the KGB, I have met a lot of such quasi-Muslim officers.

Russia Grows Muslim

Putin continues the traditional Russian policy of giving privileges to the Muslim elite. Today's Russian Minister of Healthcare, Mikhail Zurabov, is a Chechen. His political agenda includes the total destruction of the Russian healthcare system, looking like revenge for the war in Chechnya. Putin shows no concern over that.

Strategically Russia is surrendering to the Muslim world. The Russian population is declining rapidly, being undermined by 70 years of Communist experiment and the cold indifference of post-communist rulers. Annually, Russia is losing 900 thousand people who are being replaced by Muslims from the Caucasus and Central Asia. Islam is now the second-largest religion in Russia, where it may total up to 28 million adherents. Because of this, Russia was able to join the Organization of the Islamic Conference in 2003.

Russia's great qualitative population change represents both a departure from the past and a strengthening link with it. The synergies between the history of Russia's national policies of terrorism and the radical Islamic terrorism that it is spreading around the world are natural partners that may severely impact on America's own future.

Very true, this mindset has prompted Russians to mistake accidents in their own military as attacks by the US military.

""In Eastern Europe and Russia there is strong government support for Christianity"

What is a fact is that most persons who claim they are Christian, are truly not Christian at all. And, as it has been prophesied, these self-proclaimed Christians will be the same ones that will outlaw Christianity. Even in the United States, half of Americans have claimed they would support an atheist president. And, indeed, they very well did - Obama is an atheistic secularist Marxist. The Democratic Party of America is an atheistic secularist socialist party. All our public schools are atheistic secularist socialist schools. I digress...

China is undeniably atheist. Russia claims Russian Christian orthodoxy of 80%, but ony 5% actually are observant...kind of like the USA's so-called Christians, except worse.

Russia and China could not care any less about any specific religion of there nations, except to use the extreme religious to kill the populous. Because population reduction is very important to the Marxists. It is their number one goal, currently. And they are working every angle to accomplish this goal.

Egypt and Libya and now Syria are being taken over by the MB...which is a very very large and powerful organization, but one that is simply being "used" by the globalist Marxists.

The so-called Arab Spring was brought about in the name of freedom, validation due to the oppressive regimes. However, in EVERY INSTANCE, these people will be more oppressed than their prior brutal regimes oppressed them. There will be no freedom - only slavery and death and war.

This has nothing to do with a particular religion and everything to do with eliminating religion and the religious in general - a major obstacle that prevents worship of the elite. The dark forces have sold their souls to the Deceiver. God will never let them fully succeed, but will punish us. And the United States, especially, will be punished for our slaughter of the innocent defenseless little boys and girls throughout the whole world.

Russia sees us as going hard atheist. That also has an effect on how they behave.

I think that Russia is simply learning by experience, they suffered through Communism and saw what it does to a nations economy, now you hear most Russians talking about getting business and investment INTO Russia.

Communism suppressed the Church and tried to replace it with the state, now it's the other way around.

Soviet policies suppressed the birthrate and exported their citizens, and current policy seems to be trying to turn that around.

It's a long, hard, uncertain, road back from Communism, and Russia will certainly try to suppress the competition (that's us), but they couldn't ask for a better gift than Obama.

Because population reduction is very important to the Marxists. It is their number one goal, currently. And they are working every angle to accomplish this goal.

First, this is not the case, the goal of Marxism is to control as many slaves as possible. There never was interest in population control. See below:

Tenets of Marxism:

Straight from the Communist Manifesto:

1. Expropriation of landed property, and the use of land rents to defray state expenditure

2. A vigorously graded income tax

3. Abolition of the right of inheritance

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigres and rebels

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly

6. Centralization of the means of transport in the hands of the State

7. Increase of national factories and means of production, cultivation of uncultivated land, and improvement of cultivated land in accordance with a general plan

8. Universal and equal obligation to work; organization of industrial armies, especially for agriculture

9. Agriculture and urban industry to work hand-in-hand, in such a way as, by degrees, to obliterate the distinction between town and country

10. Public and free education of all children. Abolition of factory work for children in its present form. Education and material production to be combined.

Nowhere is population control or reduction mentioned.

Misunderstanding this leads you to conclude that Russia is still Marxist or Communist. There is much evidence that it is not, wants the population of ethnic Russians and Slavs to grow, and does cultivate Christianity.

That cultivation does not mean that devout Christianity will rapidly reemerge, only that it can.

Your concern that only a small percentage of Orthodox Christians are devout is a valid concern. Considering what Russians are recovering from we will have to be patient to see how Christianity recovers there.

Sometimes I wonder if Obama-Osama were names picked to a rhyme like this for a purpose.

What is sure is that the world is jealous of US exception, creating a brain drain, and some inside the US feel at unease without control over the US itself. So these conspire to make a NWO agenda - this is a “great” opportunity for the Osamas of the world to arm themselves as the world is disarming itself into a “Commonality” of terms and names.

This issue is nothing more than a “dog and pony show” with the Russians trying to give the American people the facade Obama is really tough on the Russians, when in fact, with a wink and a nod, Obama is selling out America's technological secrets to the Russian!

Ever wonder why every time a democrat-socialist is in the White-house, conviently our most advanced stealth jet ends up in the hands of the Chinese, then, our most advance stealth drone ends up in the hands of the Iranians, then the Chinese and Russians!

Now, our missile defense technology is about to be given to the Russians by Obumbum!

No Sir! This is nothing more than a side show for the American people to placate them until after the November elections!

They fear not being able to hit back on a first strike by the West.

Russia has been attacked by the majority of their friends and neighbors. They don’t feel “safe” without MAD being in place.

If you look at history, this has been a fear of theirs for 200 plus years.

Say they are paranoid for 2000 years and counting.

Russia was attacked by foreign invaders numerous times. Every century they were losing a huge portion of their population in a wars waged on their territory.

It leaded them to specific doctrines which means expanding their territory to natural obstacles to invasions such as oceans (Arctic, Pacific) and mountains (Caucasus) and creating a buffer zones of controlled nations if it is impossible to reach natural obstacles (Cenral Europe,Mongolia, North Korea not so long ago).

Nuclear technology in 20th century was a God’s gift for them.

Having thousands of nukes as a tool to deter possible invadars is a new core of their thinking.

Every little threat real or not to their possibility of ruining every possible adversary makes their entire population extremely nervous.

That is a reason why they are opposing missile shield in Europe so much. It is a double jeopardy for them as thing both against a nukes which is their object of worshiping and also in Central Europe near their border.

It is a hit in a nerve of their national collective unconscious.

For Obaama to fold up like a cheap suit, Obama would have to be an adversary to the communist Russians and Chinese. He is not. Obama is a communist. His desire is to facilitate communism in the UNITED STATES.

Obama’s job is to make THE PEOPLE fold up like a cheap suit, because that’s where the power to resist tyranny comes from.

This country IS folding up like a cheap suit and will not survive as a free republic (such as it is) if Obama is re-elected.

One should not put forth the communist manifesto to claim that Marxists today do not have population reduction as a no. 1 priority.

Russia is moving toward full-blown atheistic communism again...not that they ever fully left it. The people have forgotten just how bad it was...so very quickly.
