Leading U.S. Muslim jurist: Female genital mutilation an "honor" in Islam
Jihad Watch ^ | 5/3/12 | Robert

Posted on 05/03/2012 12:55:27 PM PDT by Nachum

How is it that Dr. Hatem al-Haj, a fellow at the American Academy of Pediatrics and a leading Muslim jurist, misunderstands Islamic law so severely as to think that this purely cultural practice has something to do with Islam? Surely it can't be that the mainstream media and Islamic leaders in the U.S. have been lying to us, and FGM really is justified in Islam, could it? Naaah.

"AMJA Senior Committee Member: Female Genital Mutilation Is 'an Honor' per Islam," from Translating Jihad, April 27 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A couple of weeks ago I posted a translation of a paper by Association of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA) senior committee member Dr. Hatem al-Haj, PhD, MD, in which he warned American Muslims against working in law enforcement in our 'infidel' nation (see here for more details). Now in my latest translation, Dr. al-Haj explains why female circumcision is recommended and even 'an honor' for women....

Below is my excerpted translation of the 41-page Arabic-language paper by Dr. Hatem al-Haj entitled "Circumcision of Girls: Jurisprudence and Medicine" (see the original here and here):

The ruling on circumcision: Scholars have differed on the ruling on circumcision. They have agreed on its legitimacy for both sexes, but beyond that they have differed. Some--most famously the Shafi’ites--believe that it is obligatory for both sexes. Some believe it is obligatory for men only, and some believe it is recommended for both. At the very least it can be said that for women it is an honor, and for men it is sunnah [i.e. it is in accord with the tradition of Muhammad].

Good work. Your call means a lot. They have to respond to it.

Thanks a lot.I have a background in the medical biz...many years at a major Boston hospital...so I kinda know how this works and who to call.I think tomorrow I'll call the state licensing board to see what,if anything,*they* have to say. If,by chance,Minnesota pulls his license then he's done as a physician in this country. It works the same way as with a driver's license...if it's suspended or pulled in one state you can't get one in any other.

Oh, look, an actual member of the Malcontents Club. Fresh from his last banning.

Hi, loser!!

Yes, I know, Bush is evil, evil, evil because he didn't damn them all to Hell every chance he got!!!! That's what bravehearts like you would have done, were you the President. You would have taken every opportunity to publicly attack every living Muslim and probably burn them all next to the reflecting pond.

Such a paragon of truth and justice. You're everyone's idol.

Well there is certainly less breast cancer in women who have had their breasts removed - and less cancer of the prostate in those who have had their prostate removed - and eunuchs never seem to get testicular cancer.

Penis cancer is very rare. Getting part of your penis removed because it reduces that risk is like a woman getting part of her breasts removed to reduce the risk of breast cancer (well other than that breast cancer is much more prevalent).

Actually the Saudi royal family has connections to many medical institutes in the US. Most of those places have kept quiet about it since 9/11.

I don’t know if they still do but at one time Mayo was the medical home for the Saudi Royal family. So I wouldn’t expect a lot from them, but I hope they would take a stand against this.

Members of the Saudi Royal Family are known to seek treatment at several major US hospitals,as well as hospitals in Britain and elsewhere.I spent a long time at a major Boston hospital and we regularly had members of that family as patients.I heard many stories...which I'm not at liberty to divulge (no,not all of them bad).

NOTE: Sandra Fluke's occupations have included working as a lobbyist for the SEX CHANGE INDUSTRY.

There's part of your answer ~ have you noticed recently your more astute Leftwingwomen have quit trying to bother everybody about Sandra? They know.

Maybe the fact that Bush has killed more muslims than any of you computer warriors will ever see, does allow him to engage in occasional diplomacy in speeches. Is that okay? Is it okay that he was ordering the mass extermination of THOUSANDS of islamic terrorists while appreciating that there might be seven or eight who don't stand with them?

I'm sure you would have approached this issue MUCH differently. Being such a manly man and all.

I have seen several muslim couples at the Houston medical center too. Women in black totally covered from head to foot ,headscarves covering everything but their eyes. The men with them are expensively dressed. We have a lot of regular muslims living here, but the women don't cover their faces like I have seen at the med center.

Whoda thunk that the MohamMADans would have something in common with the so-called Transgendered Americans. Both appear to be into sexual mutilation “operations”.

Oh.

Don't know what made me think this pig humper was a bee-yotch.

Even better that he has no girlie bits. Therefore, I'm stepping up to be the first to offer him a Male Genital Mutilation Circumcision.

Vast majority of muslims are AGAINST FGM. The ones who practice it are mostly African and it is more a cultural than religious thing.

All the ones who do practice it in say England are from Somali or other African countries.

I do know some muslims and they look upon it (and african muslims) as savages.

FGM has one purpose, eliminate as much female sexual satisfaction as possible because insecure muslim males believe it will keep their women from straying.

Bush was a liberal moron. He had good intentions but we all know where those lead - most liberals have good intentions.

Some of those good intentions couple with abysmal ignorance (I hope) lead to many thousands of our best young people killed and maimed and a couple of trillion dollars wasted. We accomplished and will accomplish exactly nothing in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Calling someone a loser because they are pointing out the perils of liberal action seems incongruous with the basic premise of this forum.

Blah, blah, blah. At least attempt to make sense. You obviously wouldn’t recognize a “liberal” if you found one in your soup.

I had a long reponse typed out then decided to just go with the following:

You believe that Bush believed, that “seven or eight (muslims) who don’t stand with them” makes Islam a religion of peace? That’s funny. However, I don’t doubt that Bush actually believed that.

I am against the mutilation of genitalia for either sex before the age of eighteen.

Do you really think there is anything even remotely comparable between the two, or are you just a troll? Female genital mutilation is disgusting. Check out Ann Barnhardt explains Islamic Sexuality maybe you will learn something.

Yep, northern African country. It's not practiced in countries like Iran, Iraq or Indonesia/malaysia or other non African areas.

He made sense Deb, you apparently didn't like it. You do no that the Saudi Family was whisked out of the country after 911 by GW, wonder why he felt that was needed? Could it be that most of the attackers were Saudis? How is it that GHWB was close friends of the House of Saud, when they use our money to spread Whabbism around the world?

Do you remember how hard GW fought to open the Borders and pass "Comprehensive" immigration reform? Do you remember how hard he fought to open up our borders to Mexican trucks? Do you remember the fence he said he would build if only we would vote for him again, then had Kay Bailey defund it immediately after the election? And let us not forget this one, I have to destroy Capitalism in order to save it, we must have TARP.

And he was one of the good guys, unfortunately New World Order is in his genes.
