EDINBURG — Two men face human smuggling charges after authorities detained 115 illegal immigrants who claimed they had been starved and held against their will.

Border Patrol agents detained Vicente Ortiz Soto, 24, and Marcial Salas Gardunio, 24, after Edinburg police received an emergency call from inside a stash house Wednesday on the 2800 block of East University Drive.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents named four people, from Honduras and El Salvador, as witnesses kept inside the stash house, a criminal complaint states.

They told agents Salas fed them little, locked the illegal immigrants inside the stash house and offered a grim greeting upon entry:

"Welcome to Hell," acording to the complaint.

Ortiz is accused of driving the immigrants from the Rio Grande to the stash house, and would sell them snacks, the complaint states.

Salas is accused of threatening to beat or kill the immigrants if they made too much noise, the complaint states.

One of the witnesses told agents she had been taken from the stash house to an apartment. She said she became ill because of overcrowding and excessive heat inside the stash house, which authorities found chained shut with bars on all the windows.

Both defendants are Mexican nationals and remain in custody as they await a detention hearing set for Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby in McAllen.

The 115 illegals will be allowed to stay and get all kinds of government goodies.

Brings to mind the fact that almost all African (black) slaves were caught, shackled, and sold to the slave boats by another black man.

What about African (white) slaves?

That looks no bigger than a two bedroom house. Two bedrooms, a combo living room/dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a half bathroom. Perhaps a 3rd bedroom or a study? Even with a laundry room, if they were really lucky, they would have been packed in like sardines, it really had to stink!

Coyotes rip these people off, and guys like this really screw them over and they are THEIR people, but Americans are the villains for trying to keep illegals out so this sh** won’t happen. You never hear the open borders crowd screaming about the coyotes ripping their fellow Mexicans a new one.
