By Abby Ellin May 3, 2012 Million Moms Rips JCPenney on Gay Culture War
When JCPenney last heard from One Million Moms, the pro family advocacy organization was threatening to boycott the national retail chain for refusing to fire openly gay spokeswoman Ellen DeGeneres. By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years, OMM, a division of the American Family Association wrote on its website.
But JCP refused to budge, and the Moms, overwhelmed with so many other issues, had no choice but to move on.
But now they are back and JCP is once again their targetthis time for showing a happy female couple in its May catalogue. And how do we know the women are a couple? Because, as OMM notes, On pages ten and eleven, under the title Freedom of Expression, youll find Wendi and her partner Maggie and daughters and again Wendi, daughters Raven and Clover, and partner Maggie in text. In the picture both women are wearing wedding bands.
Last time the Moms contacted JCPs corporate office, they were given the brush off. So now they are encouraging concerned customers to call or visit their local store managers. But they urge kindness when you ask them to tell corporate that they should remain neutral in the cultural war.

A catalog that came out as an openly gay couples featured in it .
They may as well seal their doors shut! They have laid off hundreds of their store managers in the last week or so. Their stores are empty of customers and they think the gay crowd is their salvation? Idiots!
How can you tell they are lesbos?
For quite a while now, I’ve noticed that Penney’s clothes have gotten on the cheap quality side. Packed so tight in the stores you can’t even walk through the aisles of clothes racks. If they’re flaunting the “gay” thing by actually naming their catalog characters, how silly is that? I’ve never seen names listed underneath the models in catalogs. More unnecessary posturing. It’s not like Ellen Degeneres was hurting for a job.
Up until now, I’ve been able to find at least a few comfortable shoes and a few handbags I liked at Penneys. Have had an account there for many, many years. It seems to be circling the drain and hastening the circle.
Because they are labeled as, woman, partner and their daughters.
There is no doubt that JCP is in trouble and scrambling for a market. Maybe they think their salvation is the lesbos community. Don’t know and don’t want to find out... haven’t shopped at JCP in decades and won’t be ever again.
Disclaimer: I zap most commercials, so I haven't seen any -- is she being "overly gay" in the ads? Or just her usual manic self? No, wait, actually, don't care. Stepping off this thread.

I like Ellen. And in the ads she is being the comic Ellen. And absolutely, if she can speak and draw customers she should be the spokesman. If her JCP advocacy falls flat go with somebody else. If JCP goes into gay advocacy, forget it.
I agree, this is a lot of smoke, no fire. Ellen is a comedian and doesn’t run around on her show saying I AM GAY LOOK AT ME BE GAY! Besides, she is from my hometown of New Orleans and we both spent many years watching her brothers band, The Cold (Vance Degeneres and don’t forget Barbara Menendez Mmmmmmm) as they played at Jimmy’s Music Club and and all over New Orleans.
She is not a gay spokesperson just a spokesperson.
So, JCP with the gay crap in their catalog and Best Buy had that mozlim $#1t holiday on their Thanksgiving holiday flyer.
Both dead to me.
My wife used to love shopping at Penney’s...if they want to pander to the 2%’ers; great! There are plenty of other places we can shop...
Interesting how this ad appears shortly after bringing Ellen on board...just another coincidence; I’m sure...
Totally unnecessary boycott ... JCP is destroying themselves from the inside.
It was very obvious. They were featured .I don’t understand why a company feels the need to do something like that .
When I saw the ad, I wondered if that was a condition Ellen D. put on jcpenney.
Ah baloney!!!
