This an inspiring video of young children stopping play and standing at attention when they hear the Marine Corp Colors. Kudos to their parents!

And a hearty Thank You! for your service which I would say was “above and beyond”.

Indeed. I wouldn’t trade that childhood for anything.

My Dad was a Naval Officer - and EVERYONE [including children and civilians] on base, when Reveille or Taps was played, had to stop, face the music [because that was the direction of the base flag] and stand respectfully [and silently] at attention until the music was finished.

If in uniform, you had to salute ...

As kids - we thought this was waaay cool !!!

Be glad the day they do this without being told to do it...

Be ever grateful when they learn to do it because they understand why to do it...

But still, you have a right to not express your loyalty, appreciation for what this activity represents...And that is just unfortunate...I will always render honors when called for, and if I am the only one in the crowd doing so, I can dig it...

I hope somehow my doing so will shame those who do not...

And be warned, giving me (or anyone else) grief about doing so, when you do not, at that point the gloves come off...

Those people will never be that unhappy ever again...

Excellent! I was beginning to think that the only “colors” kids are aware of are gang colors.

When I first went to work as a civilian at Fort Meade, MD, if one was driving at 1700 when Retreat was blown, one was required to come to a complete stop, exit the vehicle and face the flag. Don’t know if they still do that.

I just listened again
and the young but wonderful soldier says
It is requested that everyone maintains a level of silence and respect

wow
that adults visiting such an homored place have to be told that

Yes...it was expected. I remember being out playing baseball or something with a large group of kids, no adults around, and when they started, everyone stopped. No clowning around or talking.

We just assumed we were being watched, and if we were horsing around, it would get back to our parents.
