You are right. Got two stories mixed up. The Chicago Tribune, once a great paper, has been covering up the crime situation there for a good while because of pressure from then Mayor Daley, Rahm Emanuel, Obama, and Jesse Jackson where there have been black mob attacks.
This type of self-censorship has been spreading to any area with large black populations. I just saw a news article where the police described two assailants as a man wearing ...and a young man wearing... Great information for any citizen on the lookout for the perps. NOT.
Norfolk has had specific troubles with black mobs, over the years. Not a majority of the people down there, but a persistent problem. A friend of mine was a police chief down that area and he left after a couple of years.He was black, and a real professional. Apparently couldn’t put up with the PC attitudes among the political leaders.
It only takes one mob to cripple or kill you, wherever you are. I don’t give a damned how “safe” a city is if you can get hit by a mob like this. It isn’t safe where you are at the point in time, and that’s what counts.
I’m not armed but my son is, and once got attacked by a drunk Mexican (legal). The assailant was one second away from oblivion. Fortunately my son’s combat discipline kicked in and he only held the guy at gunpoint until the police arrived (he had a CCP/CCW). Today he is a policeman and he would have no qualms about shooting at an attacking mob. And he wouldn’t miss. That I can guarantee. A couple dead Iraqi terrorists can vouch for that.
“....national outrage....” I don’t think so. No paper or broadcast news program in the Chicago area has even reported it. Without FR, I, a news junkie, wouldn’t even know about it.
