Frank discussion re our loss to Obama/Romney and the future direction of FR and tea party movement
Click here to pledge your support! ^ | May 4, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 05/04/2012 6:31:27 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.

We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!

We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!

And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!

Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!

The Republic we save may be our own!!

As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.

Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!

We are the resistance!!

Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!

Being able to influence a presumptive Romney candidate, in VP pick and other affairs, rightward certainly can’t be accomplished by just sitting and storming “never, no way, should the heavens fall it is impossible, will I touch that (R) lever for the president in November.” If Romney or his campaign advisors are halfway rational people, they will say to quit worrying about those doing the storming. That’s the opposite of influence.

Before I engage you on this issue I’d like to know if I will be banned for doing so. I gather this truce extends to Romney, I’d like to know if it extends to Paul too. I have tried to play by the rules here and will continue to do so. There are lots of fun threads other then the political ones and I don’t want to lost my ability to comment on the non political ones.

If the real conservatives would jump the ship called GOP, and actually WORK for a party that supports our views, we would have a chance.

Conservatives are to the GOP what blacks are to the Democrat Party.

Voting in a new class of T.E.A. Party candidates will help ensure Romney stays in line.

LOL - and how do you think that's going to happen?

The old class of Tea Party candidates couldn't even stand up to their own GOP-E when facing off against Obama. What makes you think a new class of Tea Party candidates are going to stand up to the GOP-E to embarrass a President from their own Party?

Not going to happen. There's not going to be anybody "holding Romney's feet to the fire." People who think this is going to happen are simply deluding themselves.

Conservatives have already shown that we don't have the wherewithal to be a political force anymore. All we do is snipe at each other for not being 100% pure (each by their own personal definitions) while we systematically destroy our own candidates (Cain, Bachmann, Gingrich, Perry, Santorum, etc.) and hand the win to the worse RINO who's ever run on the GOP label. The GOP-E and Romney have absolute no reason - zilch, zero, diddly, none at all - to give a cup's worth of piss what we think about anything.

There may come a day when the GOP and Dem candidate stand for exactly the same thing. This election is NOT that day. (check ontheissues.org)

How can we call ourselves 'conservative' if we cast a vote (or neglect to) KNOWING the only candidate it helps is the person diametrically opposed to all things conservative? How does a 'conservative' square that fact with their conscience?

To: Jim Robinson; All

This is going to be a long post, since I posted this earlier elsewhere, but I think it’s relevant here as well, because, like many other, I firmly believe we haven’t a scintilla of a chance to prevent the next four years of OB’s continued destruction of the USA unless we ALL commit to there being one and ONLY one issue for the 2012 election and that is to defeat OB.

And re the concept of “... the POTUS doesn’t really matter, let’s at least get solid control of the Congress ...”, please keep in mind that OB has set such a horrendous pile of steaming precedents, (czars, executive orders, agency atrocities - think TSA, EPA, DOE, DOA) that I seriously doubt even with our control of Congress he’ll be hampered much in executing the rest of his plan to destroy this country.

Here’s what’s evolved in my befuddled brain recently:
The puppet masters, never to be viewed as not being VERY wily and smart, have set up an environment that will ensure OB’s second term in order to complete the destruction of mankind’s only real source of personal freedom (ie the USA).

They are going to field a ticket for the pubs that is so obnoxious to a great percentage of the conservative base that they WILL succeed in DIVIDE & CONQUER, with many not voting, voting for unelectable candidates or write-ins.

That is the only explanation I have been able to come up with for all the maneuvering and media blackout of the subject that has taken place re the NBC/eligibility issue and the continued bandying about of NON-NBC guys like Rubio and Jindal.

We’ll have to see what the final result is, but I for one am VERY concerned that the BIG FIX is in place already and it’s so well orchestrated that this DIVIDE & CONQUER PLAN is now the invisible elephant in the room we’re all just shouting in the wind when we carry on about all the other issues (ie planned and organized distractions) of the day.

Keep in mind how close EVERY poll is between OB and ANY challenger, when from ANY logical point of view OB should be polling down in the single digits by now. He is being supported and will be until they are dead and buried, (and by some them even after that has occurred if you know what I mean), by the DYED IN THE WOOL, slightly less than 50% voting block who:

(a) depend on him for their livelihood and goodies,
(b) are guilt ridden middle and upper class types who have to prove their compassionateness and political correctness and fairness to themselves and everyone else,
(c) just plain hate the USA for their own twisted reasons, but who have never tried to exist anywhere else on the planet,
(d) just have have no personal ambition and are perfectly content to bathe only occasionally, walk or bike everywhere and basically just exist, contributing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to society,
(e) lack the maturity gene, sit around humming cumbaya and simply want, (in the words of that most eloquent philosopher Rodney King), “... everyone to just get along ...” (and the 1% to pay their “fair” share)

Re that last comment, the other day I listened to Micahel Medved spend about five (5) minutes trying to get some liberal spokeshole moron to commit to a specific TOTAL (ALL forms - local state, fed and hidden) percentage that the EVIL 1% should have to pay in taxes in order to to satisfy the feel good guys.

It was pathetically comical to listen to the weasel trying to evade the question. His responses ranged from “I’m not an economist” to “I don’t really know what the federal rate should be” to FINALLY “I think 39% (just for federal taxes) is about right”.

A-MAZING

"Agreed. The damage done to this forum is irreversible."

I disagree there. Some might even wish it to be irreversible, but I've been reading a little FR history. There's been all kinds of drama in the past, and breathless obituaries written for FR, but it always comes back.

So far, Romney is WRONG on just about every issue. In fact, I cannot think of a single issue he is right on.

He's on the record as having referred to Paul Ryan's budget as "marvelous."

He's one the record as supporting the Keystone Pipeline.

Is it your contention that he's wrong on both?

After reading this thread, I am hesitant to post what I'm about to offer, because I respect this site and fellow freepers. But we have had an abundance of stealth GOP-e work going on in our midst.

I am a Newt Gingrich supporter, because he was the best articulator among the gaggle of average to poor conservative representation. Milt Rominy is not a conservative. BUT, little barry bastard commie is not even a liberal, he's a fascist federal oligarch wannabe.

I will not vote for little barry bastard, either by casting a ballot with him as presidxedntial choice or by not casting a vote for the best chance to depose his commie ass and all his gaggle of fascist holder-on and reemer out. Little barry dunham must be removed from office, as soon as we can get it done. November is looking the most opportune time to do that BY THE PEOPLE, because the republicans in Congress are too feckless to remove his impeachable butt and are violating their oaths of office by not doing their duty in the face of mounting evidence that barry dunham is a fraud, a criminal, and an active fascist dictator rising.

Will I vote for Milt Rominy? ... Well, that will depend upon whom he nominates as his running mate! It is still too early to make that final choice.

Bottom line: I am about to make my quarterly donation to keep the doors open at this site, a site which has shown the ability to expose and oppose successfully the leftist in America. To capture and alter a phrase from Al Sharptoon, 'Oppose we much, work we can, succeed will will.'

We will not reform the Republican party by allowing the enemies to end the Republic. Little barry bastard commie is openly trying to terminate America. He must be removed by the time the inaguration in 2013 takes place, regardless of who is the Republican candidate to replace him. And make no mistake, removng him too soon will only give us the flip side of the same commie coin. HIllary is no lover of America. All the dwarves in the Republican debates, and Newt Gingrich, will never be as big an enemy of America as obama and his thugocracy now imperiously controlling America.

I am nauseated by people praising Milt Rominy. He is a lying political whore, lusting for power. The only way to work with Milt is to have such a conservative control of Congress (House and Seante) that he cannot rule like an obama wannabe, a socialist in GOP-e clothing. But little barry bastard commie has to go and we have to elect conservatives to replace democrats and rinos in the House and Senate. That means we have to start paying attention to who's runnning and encourage out friends and neighbors to do likelwise. Withou Freerepublic that task becomes even harder than it already is!

May God bless you Jim Robinson, and I'm pleading with him to leave you with us and not take you home until We The People start standing up to the evil in our midst. Freerepublic is a true force of will. If you say at this point that you absolutely will not vote for Milt Rominy, you remove from the equation the possibility that he might select a running mate for whom you could vote. I did that with McCain. I detest the old traitor. But he chose a shinning star from Alaska and I cast my vote for her against barry the bastard commie. This thread is not the place to discuss the disaaster that Milt might select a worse choice than even he is, but to say at this point the republican nominee will not get my vote is a mistake. Little barry bastard commie must be removed from power and all of his thugabbees with him. This may be our LAST chance to act as the sovereigns of America. I can live with a rominy, but America will not survive four more years of the little bastard commie and his evil henchthugs.

Now I'm off to make my quarterly donation to Freerepublic ... semper fi, fellow freepers.

The GOP-E were not, of course, the only people to blame in the downing of more promising GOP presidential hopefuls. Obama emboldened the Democrats to pull tricks more dirty than have been seen in decades. It intimidated Sarah Palin from even making a bid. It blew Herman Cain out of the water, when the compassionate gestures of a kind hearted man were flouted as having sexual overtones by a few crazy women who appeared at an awfully convenient time, and got his wife in a dither. The GOP-E’s fault was in faint defense of these persons. But where was the Tea Party when all this was going down? Doubtless they wanted to help but practically they were caught with, no pun intended, pants down.

I propose our action plan for the next four years is to close our primaries. Allowing dems and independents to vote in primaries has been a disaster!

Thank you for the post. I was wondering when this would be suggested. This is potentially the biggest problem with a Romney nomination or victory, in terms of reshaping the Republican Party into an organizations that does more than pay lip service to its base.

The nominee becomes the head of the party and controls its apparatus. It is therefore not in Ronmey's best interests to change the party apparatus away from what supports his own interest -- that is, open primaries and pandering to liberal support.

In short, it's not going to happen. The GOP-E will not take steps that will lead to its own demise. This is why I believe that, in the end, a third party is the only option for conservatives.

“More like the pro-Romeney people stop accusing those of us who refuse to vote for Romney of being Democrat plats, liberals, and stupid.”

And those of us who are NOT “pro-Romney”, but who will vote for him to prevent another 4 years of the Communist, could stop being called the same kind of names (along with the illusion that God loves your position and hates ours).

I understand his foreign policy seems a bit odd. But even George Washington cautioned against getting involved with foreign wars.

This appeal to GW in supporting isolationist foreign policy is flawed, but it's all over the internet; many folks don't see the flaw. The world today is extremely different from GW's world in terms of military power. In GW's time, America was a tiny backwater nation. It was not a superpower. Nowadays, America is the preeminent superpower, but other nations certainly have much more military ability than nations did in GW's day. Weapons today can reach across oceans in a matter of hours, starting with the initial attack planning to impact. IN GW's day, military planners had the leisure of seeing enemies approach across oceans for months. Military technology today requires engineering and manufacturing capabilities that must be exercised to be maintained, and if the exercise is abandoned for a year or two, a nations' military can become fundamentally behind their competitor nations and have an enormously difficult time catching up for decades, during which time they will be completely vulnerable to forces with superior technology. Technology in GW's day simply did not progress so rapidly, and the cost of falling behind was nowhere near as great. Wars are no longer solely fought by hand.

The old "GW said we should be isolationist so we should be sticking to that 200 years later" is simplistically comparing apples and oranges, and GW would without a doubt be the first one to remind folks that we live in a different world than 1789 America. We should have the same principles, of course, where timeless principles are concerned. But realizing that there are new requirements on the military in it's duty to defend America when there are ICBM's pointed at her should not be too much a stretch of the imagination for anyone with a modicum of common sense.

The primary geopolitical difference, IMHO, is that America is the leader of the free world. Great Britain was the leading military superpower of GW's day.

Consequently, if America decides to stand down from her force projection around the world (Paul seeks to close U.S. bases around the world), such measures would degrade our capabilities so much that the proposal is somewhere between ludicrous and treasonous. One cannot simply snap one's fingers and deploy a carrier task force halfway around the world without logistical support; having the worldwide presence that we do has become essential to our national security. Only those who seek to degrade our military to put it on a par with our most significan competitors, or fools, would suggest massive force reductions. History teaches us that force reductions and weakness always cause wars instead of preventing them.

This is why Ron Paul's view is seen as a fringe view when it comes to foreign policy. Of course, some military support him, but this would be expected given the political correctness of our society during the current and recent wars. I know that it would be very troubling to me if I was soldiering under the current thinking, where we're being warm and friendly to the same enemies we're fighting, and we refuse to even admit that our enemies hate us and we can't even correctly identify who "the enemy" actually is.

Waiting in the wings is the world-wide new left/communist intelligentsia, which envisions their domination of the world, and has Western and even American universities and media as their base of operations. The dark night that is totalitarian repression is still at the helm of communist nations; they never "lost" or went anywhere. Statists would love to have America simply withdraw it's military ambitions and simply become a satellite nation for vacations for their own elites, complete with it's own communist/statist "vichy" government which would bow to statist control. Many wealthy elites of America espouse the ideas of socialism and statism, undoubtedly reasoning that through statist government corruption they would retain their wealth.

Please define “ Expressing their opinion”.

That covers everything from “I don't agree” to “Romney is the greatest and anyone that don't vote for him is low-life trailer trash.”

Both are opinions, but only one was/is likely to get you zotted.
