Were Americans duped on Polish goverment plane crash by mainstream media?

On 10 April 2010 a Polish Air Force Tupolev Tu-154M crashed near the Russian city of Smoleńsk. All 96 people aboard the plane were killed, including President Lech Kaczyński and his wife. American media coverage of the crash is best represented by The New York Times, which offered the following description of what happened: “President Kaczyński’s plane tried to land in a thick fog, missing the runway and snagging treetops about half a mile from the airport in Smoleńsk….” This version of events has been repeated throughout the English-speaking media, and is consistent with official Russian claims. What other claims could there be?

Soviet replay: US Media portrayed late president Kaczynski who died in planecrash as rebelious and Putin as peaceful man. Almost exactly like 1980s Soviet media reported Gorby-Reagan talks : Soviet peacemaker vs US cowboy.

A video shot just hors or minutes following the crash played here in FreeRepublic and some translator translated for us the words and sounds heard on the video.

I don't remember it, but I came away with; There was at least one survivor calling for help, off cam and a little distant, and a gunshot silenced it.

The translator remarked (as I remember) horrified surprise at that.

No. I don’t think very many Americans were “duped.” I think the press put on an act of itself being duped and politicians acted duped. But, no, I don’t think very many people over 25 years old were duped. Politics in that part of the world proceeds that way. It’s simply how it is done there.

I find it difficult to believe that Poland would remain silent after its entire government was assassinated by its traditional enemy. No way. Nobody kicks the Poles around. It had to be an accident, else there would have been terrible repercussions.

Remember though that the Communist way is to spend a very long period infiltrating the society. They did it to the ex-USSR nations long before they took over, and they have done it to the US. There are probably lots of people in high and low places who can help smooth over this “terrible tragedy” with the right words, rumors, etc.

Much written here at FR at time; and with links to a Polish web site; where doubts were expressed; and other 'info' that was not reported - at time - by any MSM. Seemed clear; that a 'wash' was going on.

Remain amazed; if not incredulous; how easy this tragedy went down; and how great; convenient, and absolutely brazen this was - while appearing 'safe' - happening as it did; under the cover of Russian 'Good Will'. And with hardly a public scepticism or challenge.

Who would think then; and still, now. . .

[Not unlike Obama; getting away with the greatest swindle of American political history. . .that is changing/and will forever change our Country. . .(if not stopped.)

As of now; he is still getting away with greatest fraud perped against America. . .and 2012 our only recourse. We do have a Constitution, of course; but it needs 'hands' and voices. . .to protect it. Appears; we have way to few, of both.]

This article, and most poster's comments, remind me of the mindless 'blame Bush/blame Whitey/blame Christians/blame conservatives' memes that follow nearly every incident.

I have spent many hours on various aviation sites researching this accident and have concluded it was.....an accident.

I honestly don't know why we have never arranged a heavy fog over the Atlantic during one of AmaDamnNutJob's visits or one of Chevez's visits.

I guess the Hugo thing is working itself out now, but what a total jerk. The Iranian, on the other hand, is really causing a lot of trouble that could have been solved by a really good fog on his way to or from New York. just sayin...

This isn't the first time that our press covered-up for a communist atrocity.

"The failure of Western newspapers to do all that they could to inform their readers about conditions in Russia was never more apparent than during the Soviet (genocide) famine of the early 1930's. Although the home newspapers were aware of the travel restrictions placed on their correspondents at the start of 1933, there was no outcry from them. Moreover, while there were clues enough even before the travel ban that conditions were not satisfactory in the countryside and that there might be a food shortage, only the most conservative newspapers in the West gave the early reports of famine the attention they deserved. It was almost as if the Western press itself was willing to accept a role in the (genocide) famine cover-up.

The New York Times' role in this dismal press coverage of the Soviet Union seems to have been especially onerous. While the Times was (and is) widely regarded as one of the world's best newspapers, its reputation for accuracy and fairness was clearly not deserved in the case of its coverage of the Soviet Union between 1917 and 1933."

I have spent many hours on various aviation sites researching this accident and have concluded it was.....an accident.

Well; it was an old plane. . .and 'unwise' to put it nicely, to have Gov 'all on board'. That said; there were things at the time; that did speak well to Russian MO per the handling etc. of this landing. Perhaps they were just tempted to push it a bit?

Experts concluded, of course; that the plane that carried Ron Brown was in unavoidable crash. (Which given it's path into mountain; guess you could call it; unavoidable.)

Personally; a sceptic here; only by it's convenience to Russian agenda; but then; 'accidents that become a 'convenience' happen. (We have only to think of a recent 'convenience' to Obama,Inc/Left by Andrew Breitbart's death. . .i.e. 'heart failure'; though, of course; he died 'solo'.)

As for Russians; have only to remember their pumping lethal gas into ventilation system; during Moscow Theater siege. . .

Polish media pretty much did the same thing.

Like I said, the Times Reporters and the Staff all the way to the very top have been and continue to this day to be “Fellow Travelers” to the Commie Party.

OK one more correction and 'add' - too much 'hurry'/ Of course, meant to say; things that did NOT speak well to the Russian MO.

And, as well; beyond the Moscow Theater debaucle - if anyone doubts Russian 'fortitude' - there was the Beslan School siege ;whereby more than three-hundred and fifty people were killed; just less than half, were children. It was essentially, a massacre. . .but they had their reasons.

Of course, Russian history littered with such stats; and not to say; our Lefties do not have a few of their own, here and as well. Just not a 'general MO'. . .could easily change of course. Might just take 'four more years'. . .
