Obama Warns Supremes: Don't Overturn Healthcare Reform
Big Government ^ | May 4, 2012 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 05/04/2012 4:22:33 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

The Obama administration warned the Supreme Court this week via papers filed with the Court that if Obamacare is struck down, there will be an “extraordinary disruption” in Medicare.

Medicare was not discussed during the Supreme Court arguments, since it was not a Constitutional issue.

This is a practical argument, not a legal one; it’s the Obama administration applying pressure to the Supremes. But that’s what the Obama administration does – they focus on the politics of the situation rather than on the legalities.

If they can’t win on the law, they figure, they’ll push the Court to act via “empathy,” President Obama’s favorite legal standard.

And if they lose, they’ll blame the Court for destroying Medicare. It’s a win-win for the Obama administration: if the Court strikes down Obamacare, Obama will blame the Court for harming Medicare. If the Court upholds Obamacare to prevent an “extraordinary disruption” in Medicare, Obama gets what he wants.

So he is trying to sow up the Medicare vote just like he did the female vote.

SCOTUS needs to send a letter back to the Kenyan guy telling him to go take a flying leap at a rolling donut.

Are we still a representative republic with three co-equal branches of government that check-and-balance each other, or are we now a third-world dictatorship?

We’re a thoroughly corrupt Oligarchy. Among many other things.

I am from Illinois. I know Barry didn’t grow up in Chicago, and I also know the capitol. But since I am a product of Ill-Annoy public schools, I how need to trust the NATO spokeslady who claims Barry grew up in Chicago, and that Chicago is our capitol. We need to submit to their version of the facts. C’mon..

Really? But NATO says Chicago is the capitol. We all know the capitol of Madiganistan is Quinnoccio’s Puppet Village aka Springpatch.

This is absurd.”

How many Americans still leave the care of their elderly/infirm in the hands of the state (read: state workers)?

The Indians in Kenya/Uganda learned the hard way; take them yourselves.

Looks like SCOTUS is coming down to the line , striking this abomination of a law, designed to have government control all aspects of ones life.

Obama has his little spie Scotus appointees who feed him backchannel news. And these warnings are public preparatories for presidential refusal to abide the courts ruling( Meme: who elected the Supreme Court, the electorate passed the bill).

There will be no constitutional crisis because there will be no constitution. Obama may be the first president taken by arrest, into custody by a military coupe. I would applaud that fact if he goes against the Supreme Court.

Obama sees this confrontation between himself and the court as a way to win his election by creating a crisis so his dismal record is ignored. He will convert the electorate into emotional rioters and anti-rioters, who cannot think with any logic. When logic exits the issue, there will be no Republic because we will no longer have a logical, informed electorate.

Someone simply should jail this psychopomp now and get it over with the least amount of blood shed, in order to save and preserve the Constitution. A president even talking this way to SCOTUS shows one how fascists such as Obama rail against our institutions of freedom util they are destroyed. IS THE NATION BLIND?????

The veiled physical threats are obvious,Obama the bully is in town, and the Justices of the Supreme Court have almost no security in their homes, or at their offices. Will they stand? Obama has been talking at SCOTUS for years now , as if they are subject to his beck and call.I would like nothing better than to see Scalia place Obama under arrest
via contempt order. Maybe Sherrif Joe’s deputies need to be invited for an extended stay in Washington, pursuant to SCOTUS order.

WHY DOES THE MEDIA ACCEPT OBAMA’S ATTEMPT AT UNDUE INFLUENCE?

Good Read:

*** Can the Supremes haul someone into the Court for contempt? I would really like to see that. ***

No.

Only people in the court room who are supposed to be there can be held in contempt if they get out of line. In SCOTUS that means just the Lawyers arguing before it or anyone sitting in the court room like reporters, the sketch artist, or a party in the case - but they don't testify, just sit and listen.

And since SCOTUS is an Appellate Court, not a Trial court, no witnesses are involved who would give testimony as that's already been done in a lower court.

No, I don’t think so.

If there is one thing that judges, from municipal magistrates to SCOTUS justices, absolutely despise it is elected officials from legislative and executive branches *telling* them how to decide a case.

My observation of judges/justices/etc is that when someone does this, the black robe mafia dig in their heels and start seething when they write up the opinion(s).

If Obama had actually practice law instead of having been a poseur on the subject, he would know that this tactic has a high rate of backfiring - spectacularly.

“I cannot remember where I read it, but there was a report that an increasing number of Americans are taking care of their elderly parents in their own homes or adding apartments to their homes.”

I’m sure economics play a large role in that (while the elderly abuse stories don’t help). The same way young people are remaining in the nest out of necessity, we’ll see elderly parents moving in with their children; rather than have them provided with long-term care facilities, it would be much cheaper to have visiting nurses and the like tend to them.

Here in NJ it is very difficult for retirees to keep a home; while the state will freeze their property taxes, they are often already so high it doesn’t help much ($6K and up). Right off the bat they have to come up with at least $500 per month for property taxes.

I do not see it as WIN-WIN. If the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare it is BIG LOST-BIG LOST. Going around and blaming the Supreme Court is very bad re-election politics, he would satisfy some of the hardcore left and the parasites but a majority of voters would be very angry at him if he attacks the Supreme Court.

The Obama movementin its present day is in its pre riot stages, as Obamas community organization Acorn etc. sub rosa
creates the emotion to bring it about. What we see now is merely the tip of the riot iceberg.

The Obama movements supposition is that Americans are domestic cowards, and can be made fearful and shaped like a herd of docile cows. Is that supposition now true? So far it has proven true according to the Alinsky plan. The Supreme Court stands in Obamas way, and he is prepared to go against any ruling they make on the basis of “ Those Judges were not elected.”

We are in for a very rough ride.Obama knows full well the Obamacare Health Bill mandates are unconstitutional. So does the court. I believe a power struggle is now happening behind the scenes between the executive and judical branches of gvernment. The stupified Congress looks on in horror , at a time when they should be censuring the illegitimate presidents comments publicly and legislatively, and convening a military committee to secure the nation and the safety of the Supreme Court, and the independence of the States.

The executive branch of government is now a loose cannon on the deck of the ship of state. Its time for Congress to act
to tie it down.
