The Case for Sending Senator Lugar Back to Washington (Peggy Noonan Dementia Alert!)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 5/4/12 | PEGGY NOONAN

Posted on 05/04/2012 6:37:32 PM PDT by jimbo123

Let's wade into an argument, and on what may well be the losing side.

The most recent polls suggest Dick Lugar, the senior U.S. senator from Indiana, first elected in 1976, is on track to lose his primary on Tuesday. I hope he doesn't for a number of reasons but one big one: the Senate needs grown-ups.

Oh, and one more thing Peggy, it's probably not a good idea to stress the need for an ADULT to occupy Lugar’s Senate seat.

Richard Lugar was born almost exactly 80 years ago on April 4 1932.

I have heard him talk recently and it's very obvious that he is well along on the journey from sentient adult to entering second childhood.

the Senate needs grown-ups

I agree, but grown ups don't approve deficits like those we've seen for years. We need to clean out the House and the Senate, and if we replace RINOs with conservatives, then with luck and attention to their shenanigans, we may be able to turn this around before the new grown ups turn into spoiled adolescent insiders - like Lugar.

Hey Peggy, maybe it is time you grow up and face reality! Senators like Lugar who think the American people serve them and have been in Washington for so long, they no longer listen or (represent) the interest of the American people, but, instead their own self interest.

One by one the RINO’s in Washington are biting the dust, thanks to the American people (Tea Party) who have awakened and are now doing their duty.

If you were serious about needing “grownup's” in Washington, then why in the hell did you support and vote for a child fabian socialist, with the only qualifications for Presidency is that he is a [community organizer.]

You Mrs. Noonan are either a good liar, or simply another old media hypocrite who wants to see the old RINO elected again to keep the socialist agenda moving FORWARD!

Typical east coast establisishment arrogance. Here’s a broad who has the nerve to tell voters in a flyover state they should re-elect someone who hasn’t registered to vote in their state for 30 years ?

Peggy Noonan was regaining her credibility, and now she does this. Richard Mourdock is 60 y/o, who has served as state Treasurer and Vanderburg County Commissioner. He was never known as a bomb-thrower, just a principled conservative.

“There should be an age limit if we cannot get term limits..”

You’re not going to be able to get an age limit either, I’m pretty sure that would be found unconstitutional for the same reason term limits was: it’s not in the constitution now.

So, that change would still require an amendment.

But you know what, we can vote these folks out every two or six years. That we don’t, or haven’t, is because we don’t, or haven’t been paying attention.

Now we are. So we have to keep doing that.

Where did that 4 Trillion Dollars go?

It went to those with connections. They can afford to fund Obama's next campaign thanks to the corruption of the past three years. Our kids get their share though - they will inherit the debt that Obama, Pelosi, and Reid created.

She was regaining nothing. Both Noonan and Powell are American versions of Vichy French; they are all human garbage.

I look forward to Mr. Mourdock’s victory.

Peggy Noonan was regaining her credibility

That's news to me.

Her definition of "grownup" BTW has nothing to do with age. When used by someone like her it's a codeword for moderate wuss.

Also, F the WSJ for not letting me read the whole article.
