The Case for Sending Senator Lugar Back to Washington (Peggy Noonan Dementia Alert!)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 5/4/12 | PEGGY NOONAN

Posted on 05/04/2012 6:37:32 PM PDT by jimbo123

Let's wade into an argument, and on what may well be the losing side.

The most recent polls suggest Dick Lugar, the senior U.S. senator from Indiana, first elected in 1976, is on track to lose his primary on Tuesday. I hope he doesn't for a number of reasons but one big one: the Senate needs grown-ups.

I wonder if Peggy would like to expand on this cranial methane seepage and explain what it is about Lugar that is so adult like? This is a lame, half thought out, probably drunk post, with no details, info or forethought. Pretty standard LSM stuff, but over the top on stoopid.

You can’t send someone back who never left! He’s been living in D.C. for 36 years!!!!!!! Hasn’t lived in his home state of Indiana ANY of those years. And, uses his old address as some kind of root system to say he’s a hoosier! The woman who lives in that house can’t understand how it is possible for him to be associated with the address.

Hey, Lugar. Time to go!

Vote Mourdock!

Although lugar is the Senate's senior Republican senator (with all the loot gathering power that exalted position implies) he's been a drooler for several years ~ and that means all the power is in the hands of his staff.

I really don't want to imagine what that staffer had to deliver to Peggy to get her to write this, but..............

Downing a few with senators from the other side of the aisle who are destroying our country is grown up?

Nobody cares where he's been living ~ we have most of them right here in Northern Virginia, and NO ONE ever comes around and asks us about them.

It's really not news.

Actually Peggy, he prefers to be called Richard Lugar by the little people, Dick is a the name he reserves for the truly important people who rate such familiarity.

People like Senior Senators of both parties and especially his old friends from across the aisle, high level lobbyists and big money donors.

This guy has been in Washington so long he not only does not know what it is like to live in the real world, he does not even know what the real world is like anymore.

To him, Washington is the one and only real world he knows or even cares about.

This is why he needs to go away.

Peggy,

The term “grown up” does not include semi-senile septuagenarian frauds who haven’t actually resided in the State they claim to represent for decades.

Peggy, the only thing you have going for you is the fact that you and all your inside the beltway are second on the list me and my Tea Party friends have been compiling. Once we toss this Marxist enemy of the Constitution out of the White House next November we are coming for you and your K Street egg sucking friends.

We are going to shove a fire hose so far up your collective backsides when we turn it on its going to launch 70 years of DC filth into orbit around Jupiter. You won’t be able to get your skanky ass invited to a Mississipi trailer park hot dog roast let alone a DC cocktail party.

Nothing but love for ya,

L

Oh, and one more thing Peggy, it's probably not a good idea to stress the need for an ADULT to occupy Lugar’s Senate seat.

Richard Lugar was born almost exactly 80 years ago on April 4 1932.

I have heard him talk recently and it's very obvious that he is well along on the journey from sentient adult to entering second childhood.

the Senate needs grown-ups

I agree, but grown ups don't approve deficits like those we've seen for years. We need to clean out the House and the Senate, and if we replace RINOs with conservatives, then with luck and attention to their shenanigans, we may be able to turn this around before the new grown ups turn into spoiled adolescent insiders - like Lugar.

Hey Peggy, maybe it is time you grow up and face reality! Senators like Lugar who think the American people serve them and have been in Washington for so long, they no longer listen or (represent) the interest of the American people, but, instead their own self interest.

One by one the RINO’s in Washington are biting the dust, thanks to the American people (Tea Party) who have awakened and are now doing their duty.

If you were serious about needing “grownup's” in Washington, then why in the hell did you support and vote for a child fabian socialist, with the only qualifications for Presidency is that he is a [community organizer.]

You Mrs. Noonan are either a good liar, or simply another old media hypocrite who wants to see the old RINO elected again to keep the socialist agenda moving FORWARD!

Peggy Noonan was regaining her credibility, and now she does this. Richard Mourdock is 60 y/o, who has served as state Treasurer and Vanderburg County Commissioner. He was never known as a bomb-thrower, just a principled conservative.

“There should be an age limit if we cannot get term limits..”

You’re not going to be able to get an age limit either, I’m pretty sure that would be found unconstitutional for the same reason term limits was: it’s not in the constitution now.

So, that change would still require an amendment.

But you know what, we can vote these folks out every two or six years. That we don’t, or haven’t, is because we don’t, or haven’t been paying attention.

Now we are. So we have to keep doing that.

Where did that 4 Trillion Dollars go?

It went to those with connections. They can afford to fund Obama's next campaign thanks to the corruption of the past three years. Our kids get their share though - they will inherit the debt that Obama, Pelosi, and Reid created.

Peggy Noonan was regaining her credibility

That's news to me.

Her definition of "grownup" BTW has nothing to do with age. When used by someone like her it's a codeword for moderate wuss.

Also, F the WSJ for not letting me read the whole article.
