Clichy-sous-Bois, France (CNN) - There's no doubt in university student Ouissem Satouri's mind about who he is. Hes Muslim. And hes French. And theres no contradiction between the two.
Im sitting here with you in a French cafe, wearing French clothes and having a French book in my bag, and I'm never asking myself if I am French or not, says Satouri, whos studying politics in Paris. I am speaking French, I am living in France, I am dreaming in French, I want to live in France. I am French. But I am Muslim also.
You don't have to ask yourself if you are Muslim or French, he says. You don't have to take a position.
Though France is home to Western Europes largest Muslim population, the question of whether someone could be both has surfaced here recently, ahead of a cliffhanger presidential election on Sunday. Many French politicians refer to Muslims as immigrants even though many, like Satouri, are the French-born kids of immigrants.
The far-right National Front party captured a record share of the vote in the first round of the election last month. The head of the party, Marine Le Pen, has been making a political issue of halal meat. Factor in a burqa ban imposed last year and negative media coverage sparked by the recent killings in Tolouse by a French Muslim and many Muslims here are feeling increasingly alienated from mainstream French society.
Though Le Pen didnt make it to the second round because she didnt finish in the top two, center-right President Nicolas Sarkozy has reached out to her supporters with anti-immigrant rhetoric, as he fights to hold onto his job in the face of a strong challenge from Socialist Francois Hollande.

To the Muzzie: “Your religion’s culture has not been thoroughly examined by you, nor the fact that its founder was a paedophile who also described taking women and keeping them as sex slaves as permissible in Islam. To this end, among others, your excuse of a culture is incompatible with basic human ethos and the principle of reciprocity. Therefore, if you still love your ill-examined religion, kindly get lost, to the places where this human cancer holds strong, and stay there.”
I say this as an Australian who has lived extensively Down Under, India, America and many Muslim-infested countries. The latter countries cursed into Islam are hopeless compared to the first three, superficial wealth notwithstanding.
Wasn’t CNN one of Osama’s favorites - especially the European version?
All they have to do is burn some cars and cut someones head off and they will be back to feeling normal.
A someone who is Married to a French (former) Muslim, I can attest that any problems they face in France, is the result of them bringing their own contempt and intolerance towards the West with them when they immigrated. (I cite as evidence her family from the west bank, they came seeking a better life, but have created in France the very same cycle of hate)

“Ahead of elections, French Muslims feel like scapegoats for nations problems”
Islam becomes very problematical when its holy book commands its imposition by force lest any resistors be killed, in addition to many of the valid concerns listed in some of the posts before this one.
“I am speaking French, I am living in France, I am dreaming in French, I want to live in France. I am French. But I am Muslim also.”
He omitted the next thought in his head — I am planning to kill the French.
Brings to mind the old saying - the only bad thing about Paris is the Parisians.
