UN's correspondent on indigenous peoples urges government to act to combat 'racial discrimination' felt by Native Americans

A United Nations investigator probing discrimination against Native Americans has called on the US government to return some of the land stolen from Indian tribes as a step toward combatting continuing and systemic racial discrimination.

James Anaya, the UN special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, said no member of the US Congress would meet him as he investigated the part played by the government in the considerable difficulties faced by Indian tribes.

Anaya said that in nearly two weeks of visiting Indian reservations, indigenous communities in Alaska and Hawaii, and Native Americans now living in cities, he encountered people who suffered a history of dispossession of their lands and resources, the breakdown of their societies and "numerous instances of outright brutality, all grounded on racial discrimination".

Hey, we’ve found out through the relatives doing ancestry checks that my husband is about 33% Native American, does he get his share even though he’s never been on any NA tribal roles?

Or better yet, can we build a casino on the land we already own? We’ve found Indian artifacts on it so we know it belonged the the Native Americans.

Next thing we’ll have to give the buffalo back their native lands. Oh, they’re already trying to do that with Agenda 21 or whatever that is called.

From his bio:

Among his noteworthy activities, he participated in the drafting of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and was the lead counsel for the indigenous parties in the case of Awas Tingni v. Nicaragua, in which the Inter-American Court of Human Rights for the first time upheld indigenous land rights as a matter of international law.

So he works a new law through his leftists friends, then uses the new law to shake down wealthy Western countries.

Much like lawyers have done since time immemorial.

They will also have to prove eminent domain. Can they prove they didn’t rise out of some primordial swamp and evolve into present day Indians? They migrated to the US from Asia (as we were told) over a land bridge from Russia. Can they prove they didn’t displace whatever indigenous people that were here already?

I wonder if the suits at the UN believe that the Arab Muslims should give large chunks of Europe back to the indigenous Europeans, and large chunks of Britain back to the native islanders?

Plenty of the land was paid for.

The rest was paid in blood for.

We do not give losers back their lost land. Or land we paid for.

This is just trying to balkanize the United States people against each other. That’s all that’s been going on since the 1960s.

It’s also been discovered that european remains were found in North America that seriously predate the indians. We are actually the Native Americans.

“I live in Western Oklahoma. The Indians get free houses, free medical, free car plates (with their tribe’s name), free food, free education at the university of their choice....and a check from the local casino. I have Indians wanting to sell their monthly food allotment, because a family of 10 couldn’t possibly eat what the free truck, provided by tax payers, gives them. By the way, the 10 lb. block of cheese is excellent. Worth the $5.00 my Indian neighbor sells it to me for......and it lasts me about a year.... “

****

It’s the same liberal white guilt crap in canada where I’m from: canada.

They call them “First Nations” and you name it: no tax on sales, no tax on property, $3000 per month of housing and allowance and 5 hectares of land which accrues every 4 years. I had a FN girlfriend back then and if I married her, I would be on easy street right now and set for life. My family (if it happened) would have free education and another set of land ready for them.

I thought about it long and hard and I’ve decided that they are right.

We should give them back North Carolina, West Virginia, Delaware, Washington, D.C., New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Main, Ohio, Minnesota, Illinois, New Mexico, Colorado, California, Oregon, and Washington.

Immediately.

WHY are we still part of the UN? Give them a trillion dollars to relocate to somewhere in Africa. Please, oh please, God!

“James Anaya, the UN special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples”

I wonder if Mr James Anaya could even bring himself to refer to indigenous Britons as “the native islanders”? It drives the progressive liberati mad when you mention the indigenous islanders of Britain.

“Some” Canadians were pretty mean to their Indians and beat Indian children for wanting to identify themselves as Indians. On the other hand the USA had the Trail of Tears (but longer ago).

However, in the end it was a frank story of conquest. How many conquests does the UN want to unroll? It goes back to the beginning of time.

Let's start with the UN building. Isn't it on what was once Native land?

I re-read my post. What I was trying to say is my friend gets a 10 lb. block of cheese, EVERY month. Even he thinks this is too much. These are good people, the man drives a $40,000 SUV, he's not hurting.....
