Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday she was deeply hurt by charges that the United States was biased against Muslims, adamantly defending America’s record in protecting minorities.
Clinton, visiting the world’s third largest Muslim-majority country Bangladesh, was asked by a student at a public forum about perceptions that the United States was against Islam, the AFP reported.
“That hurts me so much,” Clinton said. “It’s a painful perception to hear about and I deeply regret that anyone believes that or propagates it.”
Clinton said that the decade of U.S.-led war on terror was “self-defense” after the September 11, 2001 attacks by al-Qaeda, and she said extremists “perverted” the teachings of Islam.
“Is there discrimination or prejudice in the United States, like in every society and country in the world? Unfortunately, yes. Human nature has not changed dramatically,” she asserted.
“There is discrimination against people of different religions, of different races, of different ethnic groups all over the world... but I don’t think that it is at all fair to hold up the United States” over discrimination, she stated.
“I believe that the United States through our laws and through our constant political dialogue has gone probably farther than anywhere else in the world in trying to guarantee legal protections for people. I would like to see more countries do more to protect the rights of minorities,” she continued.
Clinton is the first U.S. secretary of state to visit Bangladesh since 2003 amid concern over political infighting that has long polarized the country.

Interesting that many on the left have no problem with comments about shooting Cheney, or eradicating conservatives, or gang raping conservative women (e.g. the comments by Sandra Bernhard), etc. etc., but Hillary is in a tizzy because it might be thought that the US - the same US that had thousands of citizens killed (including children) and the two tallest buildings in its largest city destroyed by Muslim terrorists - might be less than enthusiastic about Islam.

It would be nice to take some of the koran, quran, or whatever the heck they call that book, and expose the writings that INSTRUCT MUSLIMS TO KILL CHRISTIANS AND JEWS.
If their “holy” book promotes evil and violence, why would it be off limits - it should be at the heart of the discussion. That, along with their sharia law.

Nobody cares what she theoretically “feels”. Instead, she needs to lay down ground rules of what is acceptable behavior for Muslims and what is not.
This should not be couched in Islamic terms, but with the objectivity of non-Muslims, so they should be aware that the tricks and evasions they use within Islam will not be respected nor tolerated.
If they follow these rules, they will be treated with respect as civilized people. And if they do not follow these rules, they do not matter for they are behaving as barbarians and animals and will be treated as such. Their path will be to ruin and destruction and they will be forgotten as primitive pagans.
She should also be clear that Muslims have the capability to choose either path, but once that choice is made, it is final. They cannot behave as civilized one day and as barbarians the next, or they will be treated as barbarians always.
Nor can they embrace those who behave as barbarians without obtaining their stench. “Good” Muslims behave as civilized people. “Bad” Muslims behave as barbarians, and must be condemned by “good” Muslims as failures before Allah and the ummah.
