Are you an ABO like me PO'd at JR for getting called a RINO? Truce declared! Please DONATE!

Attention "Anyone But Obama" (ABO) FReepers! If you go to the thread at the link you will will see that JimRob has "declared a truce" and hundreds of ABO FReepers are now vigorously defending their belief, which I share, that the ineligible Marxist Manchurian MUST BE DEFEATED to preserve the Republic...without fear of "the ZOT"! Please consider a DONATION not just to fund renewal of expression and amplification of your ABO views, but let's over-achieve this FReepathon to get JR his new equipment!

IMO, Free Republic and FReepers could be vital in swing states in rallying just enough conservatives to tip the election and prevent our troops from having to salute for even one day longer than necessary an ineligible Marxist committed to destroying the USA !

The two strands of Conservatism are talking past each other in our latest argument. We come from the two different places. One strand is one that places its priorities on the fiscal and foreign policy issues. It’s history in the GOP can be traced back to opposition to the New Deal back in the 1930’s. This is why my businessman grandfather was a Republican back in those days. For honesty’s sake, I place myself in this strand.
The other strand is the Social Conservatives. They enter the GOP picture around 1980. Prior they were part of the Democrat coalition. They accepted the premise of the New Deal . They were the ones who strongly supported Carter in 1976. Their disappointment with Carter and the social turmoil of the 60’s and 70’s pushed them into the GOP. However, social issues are center stage. They are not so much against big government in its’ organization, but in the Liberal’s use of it. I may be bold in stating that if Obamacare was instituted without abortion being included, their opposition to it would end.
The Social Conservatives see the Free Market Conservatives as money grubbing heathens. While the Free Market Conservatives see the Social Conservatives as religious extremist. This is a fact on how we see each other.
A good test would be who would you vote for in this hypothetical situation.

Candidate A - 100% social conservative on social issues , but left wing on economics.

Candidate B - Moderate to slightly liberal on the social issues, and 100% free market pro-business on the fiscal ones.

I personally would vote for Candidate B, how but others. Would be interesting to read the responses.

Frank discussion re our loss to Obama/Romney and the future direction of FR and tea party movement

“My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he’s recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don’t trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we’re going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle. “

Does this mean the Mods will control those who go around screaming "EVIL MITTBOT!" to everyone who says they will reluctantly will vote for him just because they understand that Obama has GOT to go for the country to survive??

It's really tiring to have so many good conservative people being lied about and attacked over and over and over and over again with absolutely no repercussions.

Candidate B for me. If we no longer have a free society because BIG government has taken over, I doubt we will have any say in social issues. Obviously with Obama or Romney, fiscal conservatives will be screwed and so will social conservatives. Insanity has prevailed.

bigotry [big-uh-tree]

-noun, pl. -ries.

1. stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief or opinion that differs from one's own.

That seems to describe at least some of these posts to a tee. Of course, there are many other posts that are of a less strident, lecturing tone.

That doesn't necessarily make anyone on either side(s) a bad person. I prefer to judge these matters in the pragmatic political vein and shall strive do do so in the future.

A lot of freepers are gone. A lot will not post again. Some may come back.

I, myself, will have to see the long term results of this 'truce' before I donate again to FR (I'm not a big donor). My dollars will go to support conservative candidates around the country, but not to a place where I fearfully and rarely post just because I hate unbridled Marxism and say it.

Sorry, but I know I'm not alone in this, and I doubt some will ever come back after the things that have gone on here and the fear that posting the evil of Obama will get you zotted.

Regardless of the inadequacy of the GOP candidate, this is the most pivotal election in our lifetime (and mine goes back to Truman). I fear that, if FR doesn't change its tune, it will become irrelevant.

By choice.

I don't see what you are doing here at all.......

You bitch about people stating their God given opinions....Then won't name names.

You throw the BIGOT word around...like Jesse Jackass..and The REV Sharpton...and then try and tell me spit is water.

My whole point was you sound EXACTLY like a progressive liberal...calling people BIGOTS, but not naming them...and implying ALL religions are EQUAL.

That is a very good explanation of where we stand. Of course a lot of Republicans have morphed into a mix of social and fiscal conservatism. Groups that organize together for electoral purposes will, over time, adopt some of each others policy positions.

There are, to use your example, many Republican Candidate B’s who will agree to the pro-life position in order to keep the coalition together, but that don’t personally care about it one way or the other. And of course there equally numerous Republican Candidate A’s who would personally have no problem using government to do things like ban porn, but understand such positions aren’t viable within a broad coalition that can win elections.

How about a truce involving the religious bigots that inhabit this site. I am really tired of hearing the hatred spewed concerning other beliefs if different than some of these bigots.

If the Republican "Anybody but Obama" was a Koran thumping Muslim, would you campaign for him and vote for him out of your fear of another 4 years of Obama?

BTW who are the "religious bigots" on this forum? The ones who inform everyone about the strange beliefs and practices of Temple Worthy Mormons like Romney?

If you don't believe that Mormon doctrines, practices and beliefs are as weird as Mitt Romney appears when he is around ordinary people, then maybe the problem lies with you.

Let me put it another way. If ABOs are going to prevail in November, they need ABLs like me a lot more than I need them. I’d have no problem going off the reservation in your hypothetical circumstance, as I plan to do in November. Because we ALWAYS have more than two choices.

I know exactly how you feel, but JimRob has now declared a TRUCE, as can be seen at the link at the top of the thread. This thread has now even been placed in “BREAKING NEWS” and that should be proof that things have changed and ABO FReepers will not only NOT get the zot but will be able to express their views.

This was an excruciating primary and shifting FR from FUMR to allowing ABO has been difficult for JR and many like-minded FReepers. Now that ABO FReepers can express their views and use FR to attempt to defeat Barry in swing states, I am strongly inviting you and all ABO FReepers, like me, to reconsider DONATING to this “best on the web” site, especially concerning Barry's ineligibility, which is my highest interest.

I hope that by DONATING and participating on FR eligibility threads I will help spread and increase understanding of the truth about Barry's fraudulent LFBC and other lies and to share and examine updates on Arpaio’s Posse findings.

JR is not a RINO, but I think we should wait until after the convention before annointing Romney.

I honestly cannot vote for the man, because he’s a nanny-statist and his policies are exactly like Obama’s, his judicial and other appointment history as Gov of MA was something like 60% Dem (many of them radicals), and he’s a member of a creepy non-Christian cult that forced the Catholic Church in MA to go along with non-Catholic insurance policies (this wouldn’t happen now because we have stronger bishops).

However, that said, JR is no RINO, and this gives all of us a forum. DONATE!

There was a "truce" called, but no apology or admission of injustice.

Since you are being so black and white, lets make it the Age of Consent and Incest laws being abolished as the social issues, okay?

Candidate A: Redistribute wealth with guaranteed minimum income but opposes legalized child molesting.

In the matter of JR calling a truce and giving grudging support to Romney, I believe that he is right.

While it's true that JR has called a truce, I believe you mischaracterize his intent and clearly written words by the second half of your comment, which I bolded above. I wouldn't presume to speak for JR about this, but below is his most recent comment regarding Romney. His comment is 100% consistent with everything I've ever seen JR write about Romney, and it would be hard to characterize it as any kind of support, grudging or otherwise.

JimRob's comment yesterday regarding Romney - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2880397/posts?page=91#91:

Look, there is no doubt whatsoever about Romney being a liberal progressive. Our pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty principles mean absolutely nothing to him. They’re just talking points that he can give lip service to one way or the other. And he has. He’s been on all sides on all issues and back and forth on most. And he lies. A lot. I’ve posted at least 10,000 times over the last seven or eight years that I would never vote for this progressive bastard so don’t be shocked. Rove screwed the pooch not me.

I don’t see myself as a bigot or trying to set myself up as being holier than thou. The Christian bible (the true Word of God in my belief) clearly teaches us to beware of false prophets and false prophesy and I’m sincerely doubtful of Joseph Smith and his book. Sincerely doubt it’s the true Word of God. That’s just a fact of life and wouldn’t dream of telling other Christians who believe likewise that they cannot express their doubts about this particular subject on FR. And I definitely will not have it promoted and protected as “truth” on FR without allowing criticism.
