Socialist Francois Hollande has been elected as France's new president, early estimates say.
He got about 52% of votes in Sunday's run-off, according to projections based on partial results, against 48% for centre-right incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.
Mr Hollande would be the first French socialist president since 1995.

That’s what happens when 5% of the France’s population is Muslim- the largest Muslim bloc in Europe. We have kind of the same problem here with Muslims and Hispanics joining the Blacks in the Democrat plantation. Uncontrolled immigration, legal and illegal, create critical voting blocs that trump majority rule. The cultural, religious, and historical cohesion of a nation splinters. This is what is happening here in the US and Obama is playing it to the hilt.
The carnivalesque/Felliniesque circus music on the soundtrack gave that away. And while actors portrayed Sarkozy, Chirac, and Villepin, nobody portrayed the socialist candidates.
In the film Sarkozy is maniacally ambitious and not particularly principled, though the actor gave his performance some nuance and even created some sympathy for Sarko, particularly when his wife started walking out on him.
In so far as ideology is concerned, according to the movie Sarkozy was a reformer, "liberal, atlantiste, et communautaire" -- meaning free-market oriented, NATO- and America-friendly, and pro-EU (however much we may think the European Union anti-free-market and anti-American, it does represent a challenge to inward-looking France).
But Sarkozy had to hide that and appeal to France's protectionist and welfarist tendencies, because fear of change and desire for protection and subsidies are stronger in France than any desire for economic freedom or free competition.
I guess that's what people are calling "socialism" though it doesn't have much to do with the classical socialist program of public ownership and control of the means of production or equal incomes.
What I take away from the film and today's results is that that French desire for protection and support, that fear of competition and change was too strong to buck. I don't know if Sarkozy really tried very hard once he got in. But his own growing personal unpopularity and those strong French tendencies probably would have made much in the way of reform impossible.

I’m happy to see it myself. It will ultimately cause the French misery, and given their actions and history it is richly deserved.
Of course, you know the media is already conditioning us to accept larger pools of revenue for the UN, and a bailout of Europe in general.

The fiscal compact treaty requiring cutting deficits and debt was signed at the beginning of March by 25 EU states and has already been ratified by several.
Once sworn into office Hollande will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, where they are expected to lay the groundwork for an informal summit of EU leaders on growth to be held at the end of the month or June, and a formal summit on June 28 and 29.
For Merkel, the main advocate of austerity in public finances, it is out of the question to reopen debate on the fiscal compact.
Will the new French president clash with the German leader?
During the campaign Hollande vowed repeatedly to “renegotiate” the fiscal compact or to “complete” it with measures to achieve economic growth, which would ease the task of cutting deficits.

we don't have any money, but unless Obama is defeated, even by Romney, he will borrow money from China to GIVE to Europe. Our great grandchildren will, unless the entire world economy collapses, bail out this newest French disaster.
