Family and friends are in mourning, the funeral service was held at Living Stone Temple church, community members tell me they're not too happy that no arrests have been made.
During the service, Walkers family was overcome with emotion during the ceremony and had to step outside. Many mourners wore red, black and white t-shirts with walker's picture saying "In loving memory of Tez".
Dr. Al B. Sutton Jr. led a sermon preaching out the book of mark and had a direct message to young adults as well as the parents in the building. "Our son's, our daughters, if you want another chance, if you want another shot, our hope is in Christ. We as parents must be the guardians, we got to make sure that our children stay in a safe space, we got to make sure that our children are hedged in," says Sutton.
Walker was killed during a robbery attempt last week. Investigators say they received information that walker approached a car and told the driver to get out of the car. The driver then pulled out a handgun and shot the 13 year old.
Investigators determined that this case is justifiable, so no arrest or charges have been made in this case.
Meanwhile, friends and family gather as they say Ja'Quares Walker will be missed. Ja'Quares Walker was later buried at Zion Memorial Gardens.

Where do these people come up with the names for their kids.
Just reading the story you would never know that this kid had a loaded, cocked handgun IN HIS HAND when he ordered the victim out of the car.
His age cuts absolutely no ice in that situation. If I am carrying a gun and someone points a gun at me, I am not going to wait to see if he’s bluffing or not, he’s going down.
One can only wonder how many other crimes society has been spared by the justifiable killing of this low life.
Kill them early and the crime rate will eventually go down.

The preacher got it right, at least in this quote. Hope the rest of the sermon was consistent, and that those in attendance got the right message.

"Ja'Quares" must be "Ebonics" for "I want to kill or be killed." The choice is left to his victims.
They cannot spell the names they make up for their children.

The church and Tez’s family failed Tez. They should have taught him that stealing is wrong.

Yes. In these circumstances the responsible deduction must be that you are about to be robbed, the girlfriend raped (you too in Memphis), and both of you killed. The age excuse is an illogical appeal to pity; gangs often use expendable yungsta’s for violent crimes, since a juvenile rap is a relative joke. Failing to shoot the beastlet would have been reckless endangerment. Those whose actions caused the “child’s” death should indeed be arrested: his family and his gang.

The mothers who give such names know this. The reason for giving such names is to make sure that there are so many alternate ways to spell it that a police database search is unlikely to get all the info about the kid.

Actually the name was supposed to be the Biblical character Orpah.
More people have heard of the case here on FR and some other blogs than from the news media, in contrast to all the publicity given Trayvon Martin.
I went to Antigua for NASA to do an RF survey of the island because of interference with the Shuttle tracking station there.
The black populations are former slaves for the sugar plantations that used to dominate the island back in the day.
The black population there are very free, if not from their sins, then very free from their past.
While up on a high hill that had a Carib station there, we were conducting our survey and a black women and man arrived to enter the station and they side tracked to greet us.
The black lady asked us our names and upon receiving our very traditional Christian names, she said “Those are good strong names”.
They did not hold with the made up names that are prevalent states side.
I was all a very interesting visit there.

Actually, she was supposed to be named Orpah, a biblical name, but it was misspelled on her birth certificate.
Worked out for her, the name of her company is Harpo which is Oprah backward. Otherwise, it would have been Hapro.
The mother replied "ajs oh lay". Thanking her, the intrducer looked down and studied the list, where the girl's name was listed as----asshole(asj oh lay). I guess it's French, you know. So sophisticated.

The parents are so smart they know that 25 years after their little darling is born some personnel manager at IBM will put the resume of someone named "Ja'Quares Walker" at the top of the stack.

FWIW if you have one in the pipe (and I always have one in the pipe) the P90DC has no problem with that one. Either little Tez forgot to rack up #1 or lost his nerve and couldn't pull the trigger. When the hammer is cocked, as the article claims it was, the trigger pull is very light.
