Chinese aren’t going to let us know the problems their rocketry development problems unless it blows up on the launch pad or after liftoff like the NorKs.

Of course the political class will not allow publication of the failures.

That’s obvious.

The interesting question is what they do underneath the cover stories. Do they hide it, but encourage engineers to take the normal pains to resolve the issue? I doubt it.

Do they force some curative measure from a “manage by conflict” type organization, making engineers compete with each other and thus withhold info from each other. Worse.

Do they threaten the engineers like they have with the recent dissident? “Fix the problem or we’ll kill your wife!”

Or do they just ignore the physics of some of these problems and put their head in the sand.

I suspect some of all the above. None of which is good for progress.
