School Canyon Fire grows to 1,200 acres, incident commanders say

TUCSON - The School Canyon Fire has grown to an estimated 1,200 acres burning in the vicinity of School Canyon, in Coronado National Forest, near the U.S./Mexico border.

According to the national Incident Information System, the School Canyon Fire started in Mexico, and has burned onto the United States portion of the Sierra Vista Ranger District. It is burning in grass and brush, and has forced the evacuation of Parker Canyon lake campground. No structures are threatened at this time.

Given the weather forecast for the next few days it looks like this may grow to another out of control fire, which started, as did last year's Monument Fire, just over the border in Mexico. To say I'm really sick of preparing to evacuate, evacuate, watching our finite resources sucked up would be an understatement.
