WASHINGTON - House Republicans, accusing President Barack Obama of waging a war on gun owners, plan to cut off funding for an rule requiring firearms dealers in border states to report multiple sales of certain rifles.
The matter has become a flash point on both sides of the national gun control divide, elevating the debate over the Second Amendment in an election year in which the president is struggling to win again in pro-gun swing states such as New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Virginia.
Obama has vowed to veto the House's plan to prohibit the government from enforcing the border-state reporting requirement, which is contained in a larger $51 billion spending package. House floor debate on the package began Tuesday amid sharp rhetoric from gun rights backers.
"The Obama administration fundamentally dislikes guns, and more importantly it distrusts gun owners," said Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., author of the de-funding provision. "They also know that a frontal assault on the Second Amendment would be political suicide, so instead they've sought to undermine gun rights more subtly."

I find it difficult to believe the Obots are actually pushing for this rule given what we know about Fast and Furious and all the dead bodies our tax dollars paid for. They must be insane.
It angers me that the feds single out 4 states for “special laws”.
It also angers me that folks in the remaining 46 states think that’s just fine.
And not a single mention of Fast & Furious , the impetus for this new regulation.
If the Repubs don’t make F&F the top issue, first thing in the morning, every day until the election then they have no intention of winning.
We can then leave by the side of the road and move on.
We can then leave by the side of the road and move on.=We can then leave them by the side of the road and move on.
Seems the Obama administration wants to stop Americans from being as armed as the cartels that they worked “under the radar” to arm during the Fast and Furious episode. Can’t have Americans with the means to actually defend themselves now can we?
I’m still trying to figure out how the hell the ATF has any arbitrary authority to change firearms laws for only the people on border states buying multiple rifles of any kind. I think the FFL holding dealers need to band together and throw this to the Supreme Court. First off, a federal bureacrat doesn’t write legislation, plus I don’t know how the laws can be enforced differently due to where you reside.
Thank you. I thought the same thing too.
“...It also angers me that folks in the remaining 46 states think thats just fine...”
We don’t. They mess with one of us, they mess with ALL of us.
Here’s a little something else the assh*les are trying, also flying under the radar:
The Trayvon Amendment - to a Commerce bill.

Firearms purchasers in border states should conduct their transactions in Spanish; that way the FFL will report the buyer running guns to the cartels and their will be no further reporting requirement.
House is powerless.
Obama and hillary are working to abolish the second amendment (not hyperbole) via international treaty.

A lame duck senate would do this in a heartbeat.
I'm afraid they are not serious. If they were, Holder would have been impeached already, and we'd be gearing up for a Senate trial this summer, and forcing the vulnerable Senate 'Rats to line up solidly behind the anti-gun Holder and his felonies.
No, I think the game this year by the RNC is to protect Obama in order to make sure Obamacare can't be repealed. The objective is to kill off employer-paid healthcare, and the RNC high command needs Obamacare to do it, and the 'Rats to take the blame. Otherwise the white heat on welshing employers will be totally unbearable, and some of them might actually get kicked off the continent: as in, "don't come back, and don't try to sell or do business here". Something like that -- a fierce lashing-out. This way, the employers get well, the employees eat hard rock for a while, but the employers have to get well, period, end of sentence, paragraph, and subject. That is their be-all and end-all, I think (MHO).
Just admit you have no idea how government works. Its less embarrassing.
Just the Business Roundtable doing business as usual. You got a problem with that? Take it up with Boehner, if he's in a good mood he might pat you on the head and explain why all the mommies and daddies have to lose their health and pension plans, so American companies can have the Third World cost structures they need to be "competitive" with Third World companies operating in Third World environments.
Run along now, honey.
There was no need for this law in the first place. Every gun sold by a FFL. Is called into the atf prior to being sold. Then atf conducts a background check. And then advises the FFL to allow the customer to buy the rifle. Which part of shall not infringe does this is this?
nowhere in the article does it offer a definition of a “high powered” rifle. Is a 7.62 x 54 romak? is a .223 with a drum magazine a “high powered” rifle?
Is a bolt action .338 a “high powered” rifle?
A single-shot .22 rifle with a black plastic stock, a fake Picatinny Rail and a pistol grip?
The feared AK-47 is also a "high-powered" rifle, although each shot is only about as "powerful" as Gramp's 30-30. A bolt-action .338, particularly if it has a wooden stock, does not seem to excite the gun grabbers quite as much.
"The Obama administration fundamentally dislikes guns, and more importantly it distrusts gun owners,"
Life would be easier if all Communists were stupid. Team Obama distrusts gun owners because they ain't stupid.
