WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama's campaign says he's "disappointed" with North Carolina's constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
Obama campaign spokesman Cameron French said in a Tuesday statement that the ban on same-sex unions is "divisive and discriminatory." French says same-sex couples deserve the same rights and legal protections as straight couples.
North Carolinians overwhelming voted Tuesday to amend their state constitution, strengthening a state law that already outlawed same-sex unions.

Isn’t canceling conventions in states that adopt a policy they don’t like the standard? Let them move the convention out of NC. Who wants their lousy EVs anyway? Can you imagine the reaction if O weren’t desperate to keep NC’s EVs? They’d get the Full AZ treatment.

Well, this amendment insures that same-sex couples DO have the same rights as straight couples. Straight couples may only marry members of the opposite gender. For gays to marry someone of the same gender would require a *different* right than what straight couples have. Why is that so difficult to understand?
In other words, gays *don’t* want the same rights. They want special rights.

It’s also funny to see the leftards from NC on Facebook or what have you that want to slit their wrists because the “barbaric” amendment passed. And these are not the ones that gay marriage is intended to “help” - just their enablers.
