Two Fort Wayne parents have been charged after police said they drove their car with their four children strapped to the hood Monday.
Jessica Clark, 29, and Aaron Stefanski, 29, were both charged with neglect of a dependent. Stefanski was also charged with three counts of operating while intoxicated.
Fort Wayne police said a U.S. Marshal stopped Stefanski’s vehicle in the 400 block of Poplar Street, after noticing the children—ages 4, 5, 6 and 7—strapped to the hood of the car. Witnesses told police the parents had left a liquor store before driving off.
The children were placed into protective custody.

I bet you can’t let your kids ride in the back of the pick up truck these days. That used to be so much fun when we were kids. I remember sitting on the wheel well going to get ice cream.
Never was strapped to the hood though. That definitely sounds over the top.
The video at the link says they were held on the hood with a tow strap.
I bet every kid wishes they had parents as terrible as this.

In Maui kids under 12 must be strapped into an approved automobile seat if in the bed of a truck. I read in the paper awhile back that a city counsel member wants to ban passengers in the bed of a truck completely.
Families riding around in the truck is a part of the life style in the Islands.
One of the kids was suspected of tearing off the hood ornament but none of them would fess up, so mom and dad did this to them.
There was nothing as fun as riding in the back of pick up! But no, at least in my state, you can’t let them ride back there.
Hot summer, sittin’ on the station wagon tailgate, legs dangling, going for ice cream. Absolutely normal.
Our parents used to stand on the running boards back in the day when every car had them.
Firemen used to ride on the outside of the firetrucks, and we kids would do the same on the Fourth of July.
It was better then.
